When the article says "social news" it means a broad range of things, the least of which is news. Also, it doesn't "cover" it in any sense. Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia.

Well, congratulations? I'm telling you it's mostly not news. There are different sections for different things, and if you just went to the main page several of the ]would be[/i] news, simply because that's how the front page works.
