To be honest, I like varying difficulty in games. I don't want easy, balanced or hard to become a standard for games. They all are good in their own right, and I believe it has come to a time that if any of the three became a standard, we would lose a portion of our gaming audience, because it has gotten to point where people have diverse preferences on difficulty.

I like easy games because they are something I can just relax and play. Balanced games are great for me too since they don't require much to progress. I do like hard games, but I have had so many bad experiences in the past with them and I even have angriphobia so these aren't necessarily my favorite type of difficulty all of the time. Really, to be honest, it all depends on my mood. I won't play a difficult game when I am having a bad day or in a grumpy/short-tempered mood because the constant failing might even worsen my mood. I won't play an easy game on a day when I feel like taking on something.

Moderation is the key to happiness, so yes it's a good idea to be able to choose between either of those options.

I have a personal thing for gaming difficulty. The moment I find a game that's far challenging, far more risky, and harder to play or learn than another game, I'm more apt to play it than anything else. That's just my personal agenda though-- I've always been in search of a high difficulty and a further challenge. It's fun overcoming difficult obstacles, and the rush you get from it.. man the rush.. it just feels so good...

I don't really care about difficulty in games, really. I do enjoy having it, but I don't mind if Pokemon X and Y were too easy, or that I'm able to get tons of kills in CS:GO with the AWP. I'm fine with any difficulty as long as I can still enjoy the game.

I really don't change the difficulty much in video games, I usually just stick to normal or bump it up when I'm aiming for a Platinum trophy. The real fun shines through in multiplayer usually.

If the storyline of the game is linear, then I'm playing because I want a challenge. So I don't like it when games are too easy, as there is nothing that interesting about it really. Games like Animal Crossing or Sims are easy, but they pose challenges in other ways. If it's got an awesome story and is still average/hard with some very challenging bits, then I'm happy.

In general in games I think it's good to have the choice; I usually enjoy doing a normal run, then replay it on harder/insanity.
