Did the value of NMT go down?

For a while I saw all of these threads selling NMT for 200K igb or 20 tbt each, and now people are selling them for 10K or 1 tbt. Am I missing something, or did the value drop? :0

People were saying to stock up on TBT because of NMT deflating. I didn't think it would happen this quickly.

I'm sorry to hear that you won't be able to get a good conversation rate at this time, but I must say I feel a sense of relief that the value of nook mile tickets is going down. I could never fathom obtaining 100+. The most I've ever managed to get after a week of hording nook miles was almost 20.

Supply and demand. Once people started duping, the supply skyrocketted, while demand stayed the same.

Yeah, I by no means have a lot (50 total) but I was looking forward to selling them with the old conversion rate which would have been 1,000 tbt total. I, like you, have never been in possession of 100+ and agree that it is good that presumably villager NMT prices will go down, but I was trying to earn tbt by working with the current economy of high NMT value! Just kinda sucks that it fell through

Yeah it’s crashed a ton. A lot of sellers are doing bulk sales only now to make up for the crash and to entice buyers to buy more than a just few at a time. I’m glad I sold a majority of mine prior to that because it’s a buyers market now.

The price has dropped catastrophically in the past 2 weeks. NMTs were still worth about 100-150k 2 weeks ago. Earlier this week, they were still worth 50k. Now 10k? lol

I'm just really grateful I never worried about NMTs as a currency. I did buy some NMTs here, but it was mostly with the full intent for current and future island hopping. Glad I am not one of those people stuck with hundreds (or possibly thousands?) of them and nobody wanting to buy.

Duping has been an issue that has been driving down NMT ratios. It's not uncommon to see them going for sub-100k prices on a lot of places (i.e. not just TBT). Additionally, the sellers of NMT for TBT have a lot of NMT to sell, but not many people who are willing to exchange TBT for NMT. As a result, the TBT : NMT rate has plummeted. I currently sell various things for TBT, but I stopped selling NMT altogether when it became clear that sub-5 TBT ratios were becoming the norm.

This is true, I am thankful that my "stockpile" is a mere 50 NMT. Like I said in reply to someone else, since I can no longer sell them for 1,000 tbt, I suppose I'll save them for later to either sell if the value goes back up, or just use to island hop for dreamies.

I'm sure anyone who's seen me complain about it on other threads would find this annoying but I am crushed man. trying my best to buy art with them so they dont completely go to waste
