Did the game always autosave as you loaded it up?

My brother was trying to do the time travel thing to move someone out and I noticed after the update that rigjt after the title screen before the game loads, the autosave pops up. This prevents the method he previously used to move villagers out... did this always appear because I honestly don't remember it?

It always happens, even way before the recent update.

Yep, mine does it.

I reckon it's because the game takes so long to load, and autosave kicks in every three minutes, I figured the game must take three minutes to load.

Feels like it sometimes.
