Did Resetti KILL my X Button?

I just got through Resetti, who is unusually speaking less.
I've reset so much, I think he did something.

Help me out, because I was almost about to buy another 3ds.

After Resetti finished talking and went back underground, my X button that opens my inventory wouldn't work.

All the other buttons worked.
Then I tried to open my inventory with the suitcase icon with my stylus.
It, and the other three icons were not greyed out, but a different color. Duller, like if you looked at them, you'd know you couldn't use them.
The same as being greyed out I guess.

I turned off without saving, again, and went through Resetti, and the icons are fully colored again, and the X button works.

Has anyone ever had this?

I am freaking out that my less than a year old 3ds is packing it in - OR.. Has Nintendo added this in as something Resetti does after a while?

Something to try - I was having WEIRD screen issues. I thought my 3DS screen was broken.

Turns out I had auto brightness AND Power saving features on. I turned them off - screen is much better! This just happened to me tonight so I am hoping maybe that?s all this is (throwing four leaf clovers across the ocean)

I'm really worried the 3ds is broken.
If Nintendo added that in for Resetti.. making people think their machine needs replacing, they could cause a lot of problems.

Now I don't know what to think.

I just googled it and found several users with the EXACT same problem after talking to Resetti.

After they loaded again, and went through Resetti again, the X button and menu icons worked.

Exactly what just happened to me, so Resetti (Nintendo) did this? O_O

I despise Resetti, and being tricked into building the reset centre. I read that you could visit it IF you wanted to hear Resetti's old WW rants.

Imagine my HORROR. :-|

There are so many reasons I reset. Like the villagers bumping me and I take out a hybrid that took forever to grow.

A RL emergency.
I've had plenty.
Where's my option to say to Resetti "Hey, I'm a diabetic, and I started having a hypo, and switched the 3ds off" ?

Instead they break my X BUTTON, making me think it's permanent! O_O

Don't panic! This has happened to me before. Just save and quit and turn your 3DS off and on again until it works again.

I did, and it's all good, but I still want to know why this happened.

I've heard in certain countries, Resetti has the option to delete your town. I don't know where I read this, or even if it has any merit, but this IS Resetti related, and I'm wondering if it was put there as a reset punishment of sorts.

I remember reading that rumour about the GameCube version. Apparently if you reset 60 times Resetti will delete your town. I watched a video in which, to test this, someone actually reset 60 times! Nothing happened though, so I assume it's the case for New Leaf as well!

Yeah, I thought that one sounded a bit extreme, but this is definately a Resetti glitch, or worse.
Put in the game as a punishment.

If that's the case, Nintendo, I was almost going to buy a Switch today.

You just lost a(nother) customer, if you are adding malicious, and it is malicious - content to an AC game.

It's happened to too many people for it to be a 3ds problem.

In each case, the person had just finished talking to Resetti, then the menu and X button(s) stopped responding until we restarted and went through Resetti again. :-/

Edit: That's HILARIOUS!
The only way to fix the Resetti punishment freeze, is to do what you did to cause it.

Quit without saving, and talk to Resetti again!

Sounds like a bug to me, especially since only some people have experienced it and it was fixed by shutting off the game. I don't think they would intentionally add something like that to the game, especially knowing there's little kids who play it who won't understand how to fix their buttons and will probably flip out!

But the menu buttons all kinda dulled out.
That's a graphic within the game, and therefore put there on purpose.
Buttons just don't dull out, giving them the disabled look. They have to be designed.

That's... wow. That's freaky, and a little frightening. I am definitely NEVER building the reset center.

...and to think Resetti was made optional because he frightened younger players.

When I heard there was an option to build a resetti Center I automatically looked the other way. I hated him so much in ww!
So glad I didn’t build it...even him saying he would delete my town scares me.

I really wish they would give NL one last update, to fix a few things.
Firstly, make ALL PWP's demolishable.

In the UK version of City Folk, if you reset your town 50 times, Resetti would in fact delete your town.

I can imagine a heartbroken child, wondering what was going on, their beloved town being deleted.
