Did Isabelle Lower Her Island Expectations?

I'm not totally sure. My island has been the same for over a month and this morning, I just got my first natural Lily of the Valley (I've been gifted a few, but one never grew on my island before). I thought that perhaps that update tweaked the rating system somehow in order for me to get it (since island has been the same).

When I ran to Isabelle, I was told my island was rated 4 stars. I know there are times where a Lily of the Valley can grow overnight, then your island just drops to 4 Stars. So now I'm thinking that perhaps that update did not change anything.

Perhaps this is just a coincidence since I updated the game last night and played and then loaded again this morning to see the plant there.

The ONLY differences that I can up with from yesterday to today are:
* Molly Moved In
* A River a Tweaked just a little bit.

However, I'm sure neither have these had an effect in the rating at all.

I think the number of villagers does have an influence on your rating, so it's possible Molly tipped you over. Or maybe you picked up an item lying around?

I assumed the same thing, I had something extremely similar happen to me. I've been stuck at 4 stars all year, then about a month ago or so I unexpectedly found a lily of the valley and ran to Isabelle and was told I had five stars. I always thought it was fishy because I didn't terraform, bring in new villagers, or change anything about my island in any way. I don't think I did anything major that week at all to be honest.

Ever since then I assumed the rating standards were relaxed. Up until that point she complained about there being too many items around, that I had too much decor. I can only think that they maybe allowed more placed items per square than they did before. Do you know what Isabelle's complaint was during the time you were 4 star before the LOTV grew? That might point you in the direction of what requirement was satisfied.

I've always had 10 villagers. When I got the available plot, I moved Molly in immediately. Definitely a possibility tho. Everyone I'm also picking up mushrooms, lost items, and weeds. Perhaps I picked up a weed I somehow missed for a while?

I think the only way to get a 5* Rating is to have at least 10 Villagers?

I'm at 4 stars now, I've check recently and it was at 3 stars, so it's possible she did.

weeds don’t have an effect on the rating, so it’s probably the bounty arch you put up.

I found a Lily of the Valley yesterday! I forgot to check with Isabelle to see if I had five stars... I have been at four for so long now, and I don't think that I even added anything the day before to make it go up. But maybe I did and just forgot. It'll be not so great when I take down a lot of my fall stuff come the end of the month, and need to wait to get some of the winter themed stuff.

I checked my rating when I logged on today and it was still only four stars. But I also just had Bree move off of my island, so I imagine that brought things down. I finally started setting up my diner spot though, and after doing that and getting the Tree's Bounty Big Tree put on my island it was at five! Now it'll just be a little bit of a challenge to keep it that way when I transition from Autumn to Winter.

This happened to me the other day as well, woke up, found a Lilly of the valley which I've never had before, check my rating at its... Four stars?

I was like I was at five stars at midnight or something, I couldn't figure out what I'd done except put down one piece of furniture, which must have been what did it, and then maybe I took something away again?

I haven't checked my rating for a while but every now and then I notice another Lilly of the valley pop up, I'm guessing that I'm just on the very edge and I keep adding/removing something that makes me go between four and five constantly
