Did anyone else try to bury a shovel in the glowing spot?

I originally intended to but I found out before that's not how it works here.

LMAO i did. before i actually figured out how to obtain the golden tools. i didn’t think that it would work but i gave it a try, anyways :P

I never even considered this but I'm not sure why! That was a real iconic thing of the GC game, so I'm not really sure why they would go to the trouble of bringing back the glowing spot for the sake of callback, and not its entire functionality. Still, I think it'd be a neat way to get the silver shovel if silver tools were to come back.

I didn't, but I considered it. I remember that from ACGC days. I also kind of miss the money trees turning gold. I used to like seeing them scattered around.

I tried and found out the next day that that’s not you get it in the game. I did know there was a diy for it, but wanted to try burying the shovel anyways. lol

Oh wow. That sounds really cool. I didn’t play the GC version for that long, so I never got to see that. Those trees would look really good in one area that I’m working on.

It wasn't actually the money trees that turn gold. You bury a shovel there and a gold tree would grow and when fully grown, a gold shovel would fall out when shaken. But the tree would stay gold forever.

Money trees, like the current game, were just green with bells. They turned into normal trees after shaking.

I did lol. It’s a lot cooler than the whole “dredge through 30 Gulliver missions” method we have to do now...

I remember the golden trees in GC. It would be dope to get them back, and with the way you can place furniture outside, a royal-themed island would look very nice :)

I tried burying a gemini frag once cuz i thought that's how u get star trees
but those are hacks actually lol

I did that the night acnh came out, I was playing with my friend when I spotted the glowy spot on the ground.
I couldn't wait to show him my pro gamer tip to get golden trees. He watched as I buried my extra flimsy shovel in the hole and then laughed at me the rest of the night. :) He kept saying that I was crazy to think that burying a shovel would make a tree grow. Then I booted up my gamecube town and proved him wrong.

hang on that's a thing??! whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa why havent i heard og thisss

It's not in new horizons, but in the gamecube game, you could grow golden trees if you
buried a shovel. Once the tree was fully grown, you could shake it, and a golden shovel
would fall out.
