I know it’s my choice of what I should do with my island but I’m having difficulty choosing what theme I want to do. I’m thinking of doing a desert/Wild West theme or doing a winter theme. With the desert theme I’ve thought of maybe putting a town in the front where the airport is and then connecting the land behind the river and covering it with the sand paths & placing cacti.

I haven’t thought much about the winter theme but I’ve thought of spacing out villager’s houses to make it more country-ish and putting the frozen diy items down. The downside about the desert theme is that I don’t think that snowballs can spawn so that means I can’t make a snowman which is something I look forward to in winter in AC, I’m very conflicted atm.

i LOVE winter in animal crossing, so i’m gonna have to say winter!!! Think of all the cute little snowmen and boys you can make as free decorations!!! You could even have the festive items out, too! Plus, they JUST added new wintery DIYs with the update! They’re’ll be even more to decorate with!

Maybe is the season, but the countryish with winter theme sounds better to me.

I'd do a winter theme, personally, since winter's my favorite season and I feel like it'd be more visually appealing than a desert theme.

I vote for country. Once winter season is over you'd have to change it again anyway.

i was leaning towards the desert theme before but now that i think about it, the country theme is more flexible. with the desert theme it’s essentially always summer and when it gets to winter it wouldn’t match bc of the snow. plus with the country theme i don’t HAVE to change it, i can just get rid of the winter decorations if i want. i also like a lot of items that don’t fit into the desert theme.

I’m still going to watch this thread for a little bit longer

I think there's more winter items, so that may be easier to do. Plus you have the snow to help create the mood.

For the desert theme I suppose you have the sand, cactus, and storefront... but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of western/desert themed items that I've seen. Maybe a Moroccan theme has more possibilities.

I’m a sucker for a winter island however I’ve also seen some stunning desert islands with all the new 2.0 furniture.

Plus you can always make a little desert area within a country theme since they do match to an extent.
What I like to do is pick a theme that can be used year-round and then add some seasonal decor around the front entrance.

with a desert you could make an oasis in the cliffs away from town that leaves room for snowballs to spawn.

Desert all the way! There are so many items that would look sooo good with that theme. It would be a bit different and has a lot of flexibility imo. You can even do a desert Christmas, might be a bit biased but since I have never experienced a winter Christmas, there is nothing like a Christmas at the beach with blue skies and zooper doopers lol. Either way, I am sure it will look amazing. The post above me is actually a really cool idea as well- doing both could be awesome and a bit different from other islands at well if you want to be distinctive.

I’m going to say desert. You don’t see too many desert themed islands and since we finally have cactuses, why not? You can do a lot with those cactus items outside!

You can do a lot with a winter theme. You can also not do anything and still keep a winter theme just by being in-season. The only downside is the season itself. Unless you time travel to keep it in that season forever.

Personally, I would also go with a desert theme since it is more unique. At first, it may seem limiting, but it is also actually flexible. It could be dry, semi-arid, coastal, or a cold desert. I personally would go with a mixture of semi-arid and coastal since there would be vegetation and we are living on an island.

You could either go wild west or an outback. Do farms, ranches, or a simple countryside. You could also do post-apocalyptic or steampunk. Ancient temples, or dig sites. Secret facitilities or abandoned bases. Do a walled city with an oasis outside. Up to you.

I'll say winter for personal preference, though it would also be cool to see a wild west theme as I've only seen that done maybe once or twice, whereas there's a lot of winter towns

Even though more people voted for the desert, I think I want to go for the country/winter! Thanks to everyone who voted!

I'm conflicted as a Canadian who lives in the desert LOL But I have to go with winter theme, it's just more aesthetically pleasing to me :D
