This minigame is amazing so I've decided to share a few tricks:

-You can scan amiibo cards even if the villager is in your town! This means you can save play coins very easily c:
-Healer and Whimsy are overpowered abilities! Healer can net you extra food + heal your party while whimsy, although it's a chance-based ability, tends to give you seven steps a day + be amazing at fighting off bees/snakes. *gets traits mixed up*

Add some of the tips y'all have here! I'm curious c:

All I know is get a shovel or net as soon as possible.
Flight villagers are super helpful especially when starting a new camp at the end of the day.
Most of the time they all start surrounded by spots that haven't been scavenged yet due to Flight's ability to skip spaces.

I don't remember what her specific type is called, but I've found Isabelle to be SUUUUPER helpful to have on the team, as she can smell what the item in the space next to her is unless it's bee/snake/centipede.

Who has the Healer ability?!

I haven't used that one yet!

Does anyone have a list of all the abilities? A lot of my villagers have the same (I don't have amiibo cards, but I have plenty of coins)

So, uhh. I played my first game. And want to know if the Chef ability is useless? I never used it as I always moved.

Eugene has the Whimsy ability, and each time, I got 7 instead of 0.

And yes, Flight is OP as heck!

Oh yeah, and what does lone wolf do?

Diana, and fauna can avoid attacks all together plus they get 5 steps each.

Redd can turn the centipedes and snakes into extra food or medicine after fighting them. He also has a very high chance of winning fights.

Frogs, Lottie: can swim up to 6 spaces in water.

Resetti family can dig tunnels to any space on the board. Even if you haven't been to it before.

Gorillas can break rocks.

Wolves have the lone wolf ability that can come in very handy if there's a fork in your map, as when you make camp the wolf won't camp with your other villagers.

Also cats can fish without a fishing rod. That includes Chip.

Pigs have an ability that tends to require them to eat more food but they find more food? I'm not sure but when I picked the pig I ran out of food lol.

Rodney has the choice to either search or cook. So if u run out of food he can sacrifice his turn to cook.

I've figured out how to cheat the spinner. If you stop the spinner when the icon for the result you don't want is at 3 o'clock, then you should always get a good result. I win every fight, escape every pitfall, always get fish and honey, and avoid the lowest number on fruit trees using this strategy.

Does anyone know if your luck for the game affects the spinner or not? Idk if I'm just perpetually unlucky but I get the bad result like 80% of the time even if the bad result section is only like 20%... ie for whimsy for the entire game I was only able to move the character twice :/

for characters I found helpful, horses move a lot of spaces at once but they have bad visibility
Rhinos would be rly useful for long? Maps... they move in a straight line until an obstacle stops them, and unless it's a pitfall they'll get rid of the obstacle they stop at.

I think a good team would prob be a healer, long distance one, and a more well rounded one

I don't think in-game luck plays a role since the spot that the spinner lands on depends on when you stop it. It possibly could affect how often the spinner automatically changes to the best result, but I don't think the developers would tie this mini-game to your luck in ACNL.

As for good characters, hunters are pretty good since they have good movement and vision and are good at killing enemies. The soft-footed characters can also be good since they have 5 movement and aren't completely blind like horses are. Swimmers, flyers, tunnel diggers, and strong and fearless characters are good for getting around obstacles depending on the map. Don't use chef-du-jour, lone wolf, whimsy, or sleepy since those abilities are bad or unreliable.
