My current permanent villagers are
Apollo, who I ran into while island hopping,
Agent S, who also showed up on a mystery island,
Marshal, picked up on a mystery island since he was popular, but ended up liking and keeping him
Elmer, one of the starting villagers that grew on me and I had a friend hold him so I could get his nicer interior,
Kid Cat, I traded him for Bob with a friend who I ran into on a mystery island,
Diana, I bought her with celeste items here on tbt
Sally, bought for NMT on nookazon
and Static, I got him from someone who was giving him away on nookazon.
Basically, I either bought or ran into them by chance, I don't have any of their amiibos.
When I was island hopping, I was never searching for a specific villager and just ran into them by chance.
I hope you can find Kiki one day!

Aside from Bam and Beau, who I bought from some users on this site, the rest of mine were gotten from a lot of island hopping since I find it pretty fun sometimes. Still looking for Coco and Lucky, but i've been too lazy to move someone out and commit to actually searching for them again.

I got most of my villagers from amiibos, from friends who gave them away 
and some are also the ones that I had originally started with and they moved in! It seems more fun to get them through friends or the ones that moved in for me, because I seem more attached to them!

I always hunt on my own. I feel like they’re earned that way. I will be nabbing my #1 dreamie off of Arctin once I get my new island tho.
I found Whitney, Audie, Beau, Diana, Apollo, Merengue and Dom (invited him back since he used to be my starter) in the mystery islands while spending tons of tickets. As for Marshal, Fuchsia and Poppy, I got them using the campsite method.

Diana was a random game move in before I had online. Apollo I found after as the 11th villager to move onto my island. Raymond came out of my void from an island named Arkville.

Amiibos, villager hunting, and trading online on Nookazon/Discord groups! I also got one as a random move-in when I started my island. Keep on looking! Sometimes even offer services to put a villager who has an amiibo in boxes for you for free. I see loads of people doing that in various groups!

I probably purchased half of them from on here - mostly using amiibo cycling services. A lot of my dreamies aren't super popular so I was able to get them for a relatively affordable price (usually 15-20 TBT or NMT). Made things so much easier because I would rather spend 20 NMT knowing I would get the villager instead of using 20 in ~hopes~ of finding one on a mystery island!
Edit: upon closer look of my villager list, 8 of my 10 villagers were attained through here. 2 were free, 1 was from a giveaway I won, and the others were purchased. So this is definitely my fave spot to get them!

I stumbled upon Beau on accident (tbh he’s also an accidental dreamie because I wasn’t even aware of him before seeing him at a mystery island!). I also got Dom (and I guess Judy can also be considered as a dreamie of mine since I’m not planning on letting her leave anytime soon lol) the same way but it took a lot more work, aka 80+ NMT tickets hunting for him haha.
For other dreamies like Apollo, Wolfgang, Dobie and more I’m planning on using amiibo cards to bring them in! That is, if they don’t appear at the campsite or if I don’t stumble on them while searching for new villagers on mystery islands. c:

I have gotten weirdly lucky in game and on this site. Many of my dreamies ended up being gifts from people or came very cheaply on this forum. That's how I got Julia, Julian, Sherb, and Ankha. The others have been random luck. I got both Marshal and one of my Raymond's from the campsite on one of my profiles. The Raymond on my main profile actually came as a weird accident and I just kept him.
My husband kicked him out with an Amiibo so he could reach his dream of an all bunny island and my daughter legitimately invited him to her island. That same day I let Beau follow his dreams of snack hunting on other islands (I still kind of regret that... especially because I voided him. I wasn't a member of this site yet and had no idea how treasured he was) and was looking forward to dreamie island hopping in the morning. When I woke up and opened my Switch, I didn't even bother doing any morning routines, I jumped right on a flight with a NMT only to find the first island devoid of any villagers... and the next... and the next. Confused, I went back to my island and to the plot where Beau used to live only to find that the plot was sold to Raymond. I was incredibly confused, to say the least. At the time I didn't even WANT Raymond. I just figured I'd hold onto him long enough until he asked to leave then cash in on the hype and sell him for one of the villagers I ACTUALLY wanted. (That was when and WHY I joined this forum!) The next morning when I spoke to Raymond for the first time I found out he was a duplicate of the same Raymond my daughter had from my husband's island. So weird!!
If you're really hard up, check out the New Neighbor threads to find your Kiki. You'll have better luck and save yourself some TBT or NMT. Good luck!
