honestly i think it ranges, i've had slots filled in right away and slots that have taken around 5-6 days to fill up. /:

In my own experience it's totally random. One time, it took about 5 days for a plot to get automatically sold. When someone visited me and (I assume) had someone moving out at the same time, that same villager moved into my empty plot literally the day after.

Put back the time (not the day) just in case someone will move in the next day. It ranges from 1-6 days, 6 being more rare
