Decorating woes.

I've been attempting to redecorate Rudy's house and he just... Ugh he won't cooperate. If anyone has had RUDY and successfully managed to get that dumb mini circuit out of his house, can you tell me how you did it? I really want to replace it with a table of the same size but EVERYTIME I give him one, he never put it out even when he says he wants new furniture.

whenever i want a villager to replace a furniture/give them something to put on top a furniture, i send them a letter saying smth like 'hey whitney i saw this vintage radio and i thought of you. you should put it on top of your fireplace'
idk for others but almost everytime, they do what i want. same with 'hey whitney you should replace your classical sofa with this cream sofa instead, itll look really great'.

No D: he just tells me how he can't sell it to me because it's important or something. I just gave him a refurbished kiddie wardrobe and he got rid of the clackercart on the bottom left which is a step in the right direction but he refuses to budge with the stupid circuit! I'm on the verge of just giving him a shark or something to see if that motivates him to replace it. I also do the save + quit before I hand him an item to make sure he doesn't replace one of the kiddie set items but the dang cars stay right there...

Even if it's true, I refuse to believe that considering how tumblr user Shamrock Diary managed to change 99%~100% of his villagers houses to how he wanted. I won't give up ; n ; I CANT give up.

I didn't say you should give up! I mean, I can be wrong, maybe you just need to be very persistent?

Maybe the best way to do this is make him a letter with whatever you want him to put in the place of the mini circuit, and save. Wait until 8:55am or 4:55pm (or, y'know... TT), check if he's inside his house. If he is, send the later, wait till 9AM/5PM and enter his house. If he put it in the right place, yay! If not, quit w/o saving and try again.

This is a bit of a pain because they need to be inside so you know if they changed their furniture but it's worth a try?

That's what I did with the kiddie wardrobe. I'm going to attempt to catch him a shark which would take up a 4 square area, which is the same size of the clackercart and just save and quit until he does he's awake at 7am (but asleep inside) so that should be a good time to try it. I've given him 3 tables now >___>

I know there's items that they won't get rid of but I think they can still be changed if the villager decides, it's just harder and you can't buy it from them. I've replaced rare items in their homes.

Are you sending him something that is exactly the same size? It's possible that he simply won't replace it at all. Also, how are you giving him the tables? Are you saving the game after giving them?

I've tried sending it by mailing it in a letter, does not put it out. I've waited until he's asked for furniture, he ksic thanks me but doesnt put it out (even when I save + quit) and make sure he's in his house, I've also gift wrapped it and gave it as a present.

Have you tried mailing him a 2x2 item? Since the circuit or whatever is 2x2, mailing him another 2x2 item will 100% replace it, unless he finds another spot for a 2x2 item...

Do you save after sending him the gift? If so, try to save before sending it and send it shortly before 9 AM or 5 PM. Wait until that hour rolls around and a few minutes later after the hour, check his house. If it's not there, quit without saving, and try again. Sometimes that works better and you don't have to keep wasting items.

Is the item you're using the same size as the item you want to replace? If it isn't, he'll give priority to any other spots where the item can be placed.

The kiddie table also takes up 4 spaces. I do not. I save before giving him the items just to make sure he doesn't replace anything else
