I saw the cartridges I had for SNES, and I decided I'm going to buy a SNES and buy all the SNES games I want for it.

Collection so far:

Chrono Trigger
Super Mario RPG
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Secret of Mana

So, what do you guys think of buying an old console and games for it, ever considered doing this yourself?

EARTHBOUND, EARTHBOUND, EARTHBOUND!!

And Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Star Fox, and others.

And Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A ]Yes, Super Mario World and Link to the Past are must owns, I'll probably get those first along with a couple others..

Star Fox, I haven't tried, might get it.

Earthbound, doubtful. It's like 80 bucks for a used cartridge and the game itself isn't all that great, it was fun, but not 80 dollars fun. Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI are enough to meet my RPG needs.

You can't have a SNES collection without EarthBound! It's, like, the most valuable SNES game ever! If this is really a collection and not just "games that you want to get", then you'd want to get the game with the highest collector's value for your collection. =p

You can actually.. I don't have Earthbound. Score one for Europe. ;D

Alright, then it's a "just a games I want" collection. XD I don't buy games just for bragging rights, I buy them to enjoy them, and while I do enjoy Earthbound, I don't enough to pay 80 bucks for it. I could buy 4 other games I wanted instead.

Of course you can have a collection without EarthBound. But if you're a serious SNES collector and you don't have EarthBound, then it should be your top priority to obtain it.

I don't have the game myself, but someday I plan to get it.

I'm not a serious game collector then :P

My top priorities are Yoshi's Island, Turtles in Time and Super Castlevania IV.

Speaking of which, Castlevania Dracula X actually costs more than Earthbound last time I check, but I just plan on buying it on the VC when it comes out.

If Earthbound comes out on VC I'll get it either on there or maybe a cartridge if the price goes down.

Yeah, I'd like to see a Virtual Console release for it, too. I'm doubting it will ever happen, though. =/ It would be awesome to be as lucky as the person who managed to find a copy that was selling for $3 a few weeks ago, lol.

Yeah, would be awesome, unfortunately most people who have it know how much they can get from it. And I doubt a VC release too, but here's hoping.

Looks like I just might never get it. T_T

That`s your opinion

I think its great that people are starting to buy old consoles, I bought a SNES myself a few years ago because I never had one as a child. (Had a Nintendo 64)

You're a man after my own heart, you know that? Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger are two of the best games to ever be released. Nevermind the console generation. :)

You might want to look into Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals as well as the two Breath of Fire games. :)

So, what do you guys think of buying an old console and games for it, ever considered doing this yourself?

I think it's awesome. It shows that people aren't so wrapped up in their flashy high definition consoles and motion controllers that they can't step back and blow on a cartridge to have a good time.

Myself I don't have to buy any more, as I still own a Genesis and NES/SNES in working condition.

Traditional turn-based RPG set in a modern world where a bunch of kids go on an adventure to fight piles of vomit, dinosaurs and aliens. Quirky sense of human and attractive graphics make for one unique experience. A true masterpiece, that one. But it's so hard to find, and when you do actually find it it's always in the 100+ dollar range, often times for the cartridge alone.

Could someone direct me to a place where you can buy SNES's at? I play SNES games on emulators, but I'd like to actually have one.

Lufia II is definitely a game I want, I've played it before and it's awesome I'll definitely buy that one at some point, I'll look into the Breath of Fire games, thanks for the suggestion. =D

Also on update, I actually ordered a SNES and should be getting that pretty soonI even got a grey one and not one of those ugly yellow-colored ones.
