So I'm feeling the urge to get back into this game for the third time. After I first got the game and spent about a year playing it, eventually it fell off my list of daily tasks. About 2 years later, I decided to start playing it again and started a new town from scratch. But sadly, that only lasted about 3 months, and it's been almost a year since then (last time I played was on 5/22 according to my old wordpad file of important ACNL notes). Now I want to see if I can get back into it.

Main thing I'm wondering is if I should just load up and start at the current date (I last saved/quit after refusing to let a resident move out, so I've still got the villagers down in my sig despite being gone a year; I checked with a new character just to be sure) or set my 3DS back to the day after I stopped playing and rush back up to the current day one at a time for a couple weeks (playing just long enough each in-game day to check the shops and moving rumors). The former would be a LOT easier but the latter would give me opportunities to get more dreamies and events and fish/bugs and all that other stuff. What do you all think?

Goodness I don't know - depends on the -ves/+ves of each & what is important to you.

To go on with current date: - from what you say your villagers will all be there, if you were not on beautiful ordinance you will lose flowers (any imp hybrids?)/have weeds (tho I think the latter a bonus wrt to possibly of getting Lief).

To take the game back to where you left off: You will be in the past out of sync with other players, and you have to decide how you will change time - either with the system clock & then load the game or with Isabelle at the front screen.
What season were you in, any events coming up that you would like to do (August fireworks often forgotten - as I'm into feng sui I try for the miniature car).

Either way the update is possible to get - you don't have to be on the right date to download it. Free to update, & brings a lot to the game includes two mini games that are not that easy, well one definitely isn't, I'm struggling (the tetris type one).

Decided to start out on the day after I quit, and if I get sick of playing catch up, I can just refuse another move and zip up to the current date.

Started off with a scare though, with one of my residents telling me that Punchy wanted to move, but thankfully I found him outside and got him to ping me so I could tell him to forget it.

Great - sounds you know exactly what you are doing and as you say if you want to, you can with precautions in place, move to the current date. Ah - can't lose Punchy!

I take breaks every so often, but I've never entirely given up, I've played an ac game since 2006, and can't see me stopping, its got a charm and a pull all of its own, can't resist it.

i was thinking of playing after a long time, as well.... i really should, cause i haven't finished a few of my houses... & i want to move a house too....
i can't be bothered, though ^^'
