Dear fellow animal crossers.
I have a concern about this so called "data corruption". I understand that people have to restart because of it but why? What exactly happens? I'm concerned for my game (well I mean I wouldn't be too mad if it happened but I'd be pretty sad considering everything I've don't is on there) and would like to know how this is happening.
Also if it's happened to you, I am deeply sorry and if there's anything I can do to lend a hand, then let me know! I have tons of stuff I can help with
It hasn't happened to me, but some people have experienced their save file corrupting due to the game card being ejected while the game is on. Actually, my game card has popped out at least twice on accident while my 3DS was closed! But everything has been fine. Of course, you would lose whatever you had done that wasn't saved.
At least once, my game card was ejected on accident because I was trying to do something with one hand while holding my closed 3DS in the other. My grip ended up pushing in the game card and causing it to eject. So be really careful about how you grip your 3DS! D8
I think there have been other cases of save data corruption regarding digital copies, as well.
Well, from what I understand (not an expert, though), something happens with the data where the system can't process it right because of errors. Because of this, the system basically gives up on processing any of your data since it needs that piece. Therefore, you can't use your data to continue your game, and you have to restart.
I'm not sure what exactly causes it in AC, since I've seen some threads where according to the people affected it just happened randomly, but basically don't cheat (I doubt TT'ing and stuff that is built into the game would count) using things like GameSharks, Action Replays or possibly programs that would alter your data.
EDIT: Also, you probably shouldn't power off when the game tells you not to, like when you're saving.
