Where the heck to I catch a dab?! I've been trying for the past half hour - nothing. Should I go to the island? It's driving me nuts.

Uch! everyone wanted a dab....searched and searched, finally found one but I didn't know about the reset and people want something else thingy. And the stupid part was........eeehmmm..I had a dab in my house all along, I forgot I stored one there!

Dabs are the size above Horse Mackerel. When catching a Dab, you will either catch a Red Snapper, Barred Knifejaw, or an Olive Flounder. (You may need these) Just look for the right size.

I got all the ingredients for Franklin ahead of time(assuming the list on thonky is correct). I won't have time to play until tonight though. I'm sure I'll have probs finding the fish the villagers ask for because this game has proven time and time again that the one thing you are looking for will be the only one you can't find.

This! I stocked up on dabs, olive flounders and red snappers.

Not one recipe or villager called for it. Everyone wanted the fish I didn't stock! Black Bass, Steeled whatever and horse mackrel. The fish so common when I was fishing, I figured that I would be okay needing to go catch a few.
Well, a few turned into many and what I thought would take a half hour took two hours. -_-
Oi. I will certainly be much better prepared next time around!

I agree. I had a few different types of fish in my inventory when I made my rounds to the villager's houses. All of them wanted a fish which I did not have. And while trying to fish for ingredients and the villager's requests, I picked up several boots and cans instead

And Marcel wants a barbel steed. Fine. Takes me half an hour and I catch him a barbel steed (along with a big pile of stupid carps and perches and whatnot).
He gives me a cherry. Thank you Marcel, cherries ARE in fact our native fruit and I WAS rather hoping for butter, but I guess you tried.
So I go and talk to Egbert.
He wants a... barbel steed.
I get him his barbel steed! Eventually! Apparently barbel steeds are incredibly rare today!
My reward is a flat mushroom. I have seven flat mushrooms. At least he told me the secret ingredient I guess.
So I go off and try Rudy, who wants a... barbel steed...
AUGH.
Harvest Festival was more frustrating than Halloween!

Back on topic: the dab and olive flounder actually have different size shadows, which I just noticed today. Go for the smaller one if you want the dab and the larger if you want the olive flounder.

Dabs are not that rare. Olive flounders generally take some time though. Don't forget olive flounders are larger in size than dabs.

Dabs have a medium sized shadow in the ocean. They're the same size as Red Snappers and Barred Knifejaws.

you can get dab using fishing rod.
dab still much better I have to find lobster and I been diving for hours to find it and still no luck TT_TT
