So I am a very pure Animal Crossing player. I generally do not time travel ever, but I'm not against it. I want to cycle some of my villagers out to make room for some new ones. How should I go about this? Also, I know that time traveling backwards only counts as 1 day. Is this a better method?

To cycle in my main town I do 4 days forward and 4 days back. If once I've gone back I still don't get a moving ping, I go one day forward at a time until I do. And then repeat the process. If you still don't get a ping to move and have dreamies in your town, just be careful. Load up a couple of times on the same day if necessary so you can talk to every villager or at least run in front of them.
I expect a ping at the latest after going 4 days forward, 4 back, either the next day or the one after, if that makes sense. It never normally takes longer than that at 10 villagers

For newbie time travelers, I do not recommend TT'ing so many days. Go day by day talking to your safety net character til you exhaust them then talk to 1 or 2 more a couple times especially any day past the 2nd from last move in. TT mistakes= moving out dreamies. TT to make room for 1 and be satisfied with that til someone else pings to move and you can move in another dreamie. I recommend going slow and purposefully. I got excited and greedy~

Well I use to time travel 2 days and then talk to all of my dreamies. And repeat. Then I would occasionally talk to my other villagers I wanted to go.

Depends how fast you want to move a villager out really....providing you find a mover before going 4 days forward and then check and double check again if unsure, you should be okay since nobody moves out within 4 days. The reason people say go back to the day you started on is because you will (or should be) on speaking terms with the villagers which means they can ping you. If you don't talk to them for 7 days I think it is, they won't pink you about moving.
Just make sure to speak to them all before you start, even if you go day to day, don't go further than a week before tt'ing back and repeating
