Custom Design Sign

Ok so I've had a custom design sign in a spot for a while and today I've finally decided to upload a QR code onto it. Once I got it and I went up to the design sign, it wouldn't let me select the design or any of the designs I have. They're all QR codes but I remember people would always upload QR codes and put them onto their design signs on YouTube. Is this no longer allowed or am I doing something wrong?
