Original usually refers to the villager's clothes, saying, and furniture in their house. Often times a villager can change their clothes into something from Abel's, put up their furniture in Re-Tail, ask the player for a new saying, or ask the player to take or give them furniture- all of which would decrease how original they are. For example, Zell's original phrase is "pronk" and his original shirt is an Arctic Camo Shirt. And this is what his house looks like: http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/Zell

There are a few ways to lower the chances of a villager changing: 1. Fill Retail with your own, high priced items 2. Change all of the outfits in Abel's to umbrellas 3. Don't do any favors for villagers if they involve changing their furniture / phrase
