"Uh... well this is a little awkward then... Um, I maybe should have mentioned is a while ago, but I'm sort of already in a relationship," I say slowly, trying to choose the right words. "With a girl... she's really nice, her name's Willow. It's funny really, a lot of the women in her family are called Willow. I'm rambling aren't I... um..."
"But-" I cut myself of, and stand up. "I'm just gonna... er... leave you for a while," I say, and retreat towards the women's restroom. Wow, he liked me? But the feeling wasn't mutual, that was awkward... I'm an idiot, why didn't I come out before, then this wouldn't have happened.
I watch Amy and Aions talking from a distance, unable to hear what they're actually saying. After a while, Amy heads off to the bathroom, looking sort of upset. I wonder what happened...
I decide to go and check on her, and walk towards the bathrooms. "Amy? What'd he say to you? Want me to go beat him up for you?"
Amy? Oh, right, I gave her a fake name, didn't I... I think. I stay silent for a long time. "No..." I say finally, my voice quiet. "Oh God, I'm such an idiot..."
"Because he had feelings for me and I hurt him because I couldn't see that, even though you could but you've never met us before, and I had to reject him because I'm gay and..." I trail off to wipe away the few stray tears from my face.
"Yeah, I am. Got a problem with that? Are you one of those jerks who hates people who swing for the same team too?" I ask, my voice steadily rising. "Maybe you actually are just as stubborn as I thought in the bank, when you were shot." When my mind catches up, I realise that I just let slip that I was at the bank, and I mentally curse myself, hoping she didn't pay attention to that.
