Hey folks, I'm new to Animal Crossing. I finally unlocked the QR machine today with my main Mayor character. I was hoping to create my paths now. Then I realized that a lot of people online recommend creating paths with a 2nd character so I made a 2nd and 3rd character. but of course neither can use the QR machine till 10 days from now (YIKES! I wish I had known that days ago?)
So can I make a few paths now with my Mayor main character and then later store paths on my secondary characters?? or am I going to be wasting my time?

I would recommend using your Mayor for your main paths that you are more likely to kick away, so you can more easily replace them. You should still have a few slots remaining even if your patterns are complex.
Whereas the other characters can use the remaining patterns that are unlikely to be erased.
You can store some on your mayor, some on your 2nd char and some on your 3rd, depending on how many tiles the path takes up and if you want to design clothes on your mayor.
I think what he's trying to get at is: are the paths that are initially used by the mayor transferable to the other characters without destroying the laid out paths?
I think what I'd like to do is a couple different themed paths, maybe a main path design, a different style path for one of the gardens and maybe a dirt path for another area.
I was thinking that at least the "main path design" would ideally be easily switchable to various path designs due to season? Ie, snow path in winter, sakura path in spring, leaf path in fall…?
If I have 2 or 3 clothing designs on my Mayor (which I could switch out for various things by scanning a new QR and then scanning back, etc…)
can I do my main path on my mayor? or would it be better to wait and do the main path on a 2nd character. Much thanks.
If you want to carry them on a 2nd character, I would wait. You'll have to erase the whole path and redo it, you can't transfer the things you've laid down.
If you have room on your mayor, go ahead though. You can always replace the designs in your mayor's slots to update it seasonally -- that's what I do (except on my 2nd character).
