Ike is my #1 for sure. I never see him brought up and I simply adore him. Plus he lives in a garage. He's a TOTAL cranky grandpa bear.

He’s my #1 cranky too! I love him so much! He’s also a dad, by the way. His son is Poko. Roadie!

This thread is old, and OP might already have picked a cranky, but to anyone that needs some recommendations: Rasher and Dobie are great picks.

Rasher is 100% dad vibes. His home is a outdoor garage shop where he works on cars and listens to classic rock. He might look tough and scary, but he’s sweet in his own way and has top tier dad fashion (a blue pineapple aloha shirt).

Dobie on the otherhand is 150% grandpa vibes. He’s cranky and old, but he’s down to earth and easygoing. He loves to read, write and just overall enjoy a quiet day, but at times he can let loose and have fun with a villager with the play hobby (found him playing chase with Bones on the plaza this morning, it was a cute sight).

Dobie is my favorite BY FAR He's pretty popular but I say his popularity is totally warranted because he may be the only cranky who LOOKS old.

Del is a robot alligator, and I think robot villagers always look pretty cool. He even has the clank sounds when taking steps and his little black eye pupils turn a red color when doing a surprised or shock emotion.

What the what. I had Del for a long time and never realized he was a robot. I... I'm still not convinced he's a robot, this idea is just so foreign to me The red eye thing is true, though, but a lot of character's have eyes that change in unrealistic ways-

Seconded! I have both of them and they're adorable. I caught them talking to each other today and they were arguing over which one of them was crankier! They're also both constantly singing, it's the cutest thing

I currently have Static and Roscoe. I’ve had Static in almost every AC town since GameCube, so I’m a bit biased. They both have very cool design and their dialogue thankfully is not too similar. I had Elvis for awhile as well. I like him a lot and he has a great house interior, but his dialogue was too similar to Static.

I also have both of them! Static is probably my favorite villager right now. He was my first cranky campsite visitor and my second overall camper.
I just found Roscoe about two weeks ago, and I plan on keeping him to pair with Reneigh.

No disrespect intended to anyone but I have to say that any wolf cranky is very overrated, I see all of those names pop up in every cranky thread!

A real underrated cranky? How bout Admiral. I have him on my island, he was a random move-in and I had never heard of him before that. Cuz he's just that unpopular. He's so cute and he loves to walk around the town studying bugs and flowers with a little book and watering plants. Also his house is like a little cozy Japanese shack thing.

As for slightly more popular picks that have been mentioned already, Rolf is great and you can't go wrong there.

Though I've regrettably never had him, I want to rep my favorite cranky villager Groucho. He's got the perfect name/catchphrase for the type, a skull-themed house, scars from a presumably dark past... and yet he's a total sweetheart and very adorable. He'll look good in pretty much any outfit you give him

My favorite cranky is Wart Jr! His name combined with his short stature and the deep cranky voice is funny to me. I also like frogs a lot so that's another reason why!

I have both Dobie and Cyrano on my island. Here's a bit about each of their personalities:
Dobie loves to sit under coconut trees and savor life. He has a house that looks like an office and plays Agent K.K. on his phonograph, leading me to think he is a retired spy (He actually reminds me a lot of my grandpa, who worked with a company that made spy tech, and he actually contributed to ending the Cold War so I love Dobie a lot). Both he and Cyrano always love to say that sunny weather makes their bones ache a bit less :')
Cyrano has the house of an old, kind Japanese grandpa. His color scheme may not be the best, but I've always had a soft spot for the anteaters, so I love him a lot. He likes to sit on rocks bordering the sea and really likes sea hanten shirts. Also, he really appreciates talking to some of my (obviously) younger villagers.

I see that a lot of people have Dobie, so you've probably visited him already. You are welcome to visit Cyrano (for free) if you ever want to!
