I'm new to the whole Competitive pokemon scene, and I'd really like to learn how to do it. Youtube isn't very helpful, because it is like they are speaking a different language. IF anyone is able to help that'd be great :)

Sure thing! Is there anything in particular you need clarification on? Just as a starting point, really; I want to try and explain it as effectively as I can.

OH, thank you. I've read a bit on it, and I learned that every pokemon has IV's and that giving a parent a power item (anklet, band, etc) will pass on IV's and a destiny knot will too. But, I don't know how to get a perfect IV pokemon or how to breed one.

First off, you have to know if a pokemon has a perfect IV. If you've unlocked the Battle Resort in ORAS, you can go to the pokemon center there and talk to the judge to the right of the PC. He'll list the pokemon's highest stats and say a number of different things. But, if he says (those stats can't be beat!) that means that it's a perfect 31 IVs. If he points out that a stat is particularly crappy (he says this in a number of different ways that all mean the same thing) that means it has 0 IVs. IVs are passed down randomly from both parents. I guess power items pass down the IV of the stat they boost from the parent it's equipped to, but that's a very unreliable method when it comes to passing down 5 perfect IVs (thought it can get you started in the right direction). Destiny Knot randomly chooses 5 IVs from both parents and automatically passes them down to the baby.

I wrote a very detailed guide about creating competitive pokemon to their full potential, and it includes the breeding process I use to pop out the perfect pokemon as quickly and smoothly as possible. I can currently breed and train an entire team in a day, assuming I'm lucky with the random IVs.

Thank you for the guide, I'm currently using it :D it is super helpful.

All right. My advice for getting a Pokemon with decent IVs is to either hang about on Wonder Trade for a while in the hopes of getting a breedject (which I wouldn't recommend, even though you can get good Pokemon to start with this way), or by using the Friend Safari or the Dexnav in XY/ORAS respectively (for the Dexnav, try to get a Pokemon with high 'potential', that being three stars). Once you've gotten the Pokemon you want to breed, take it to the IV Checker in Kiloude City/Battle Resort.

Once he tells you what IVs are perfect, if any (he'll list 1-6 stats and may say that they can't be better), you might want to mark it. The easiest way to do this is through marking it. In the breeding community, each of the six marks stands for a perfect IV, with the layout being HP/Attack/Defense/Special Attack/Special Defense/Speed. It makes it infinitely easier to remember what stats are perfect.

To breed, you want to give the Pokemon with the ideal nature an Everstone, and the other Pokemon the Destiny Knot. The Destiny Knot was given a new purpose in the 6th generation- it passes down 5 IV stats from both parents, with a sixth being randomly assigned. Once you've gotten Pokemon with better IVs than the parents, swap both out and try to improve the offspring's stats. Things get infinitely easier if you manage to get a 6IV Ditto, so I would recommend trading for one, equipping it with a Destiny Knot and keeping it in your Daycare permanently unless you want to breed for Egg Moves.

Sorry for my late reply; I had to go. I know you have a guide, but... I'd kind of feel bad if I at least didn't provide you with an answer.
