Could someone explain how to move a villager's house and then retract it?

I'm currently trying to move some villagers out but have been very unfortunate to have Zucker stuck with the move-out thought bubble for 3 consecutive days.
Someone suggested asking Nook to move his house, but then backing out as apparently that will cause the move-out thought bubble to move onto someone else.
I've never tried it before and I'm a bit worried since I actually really like his house placement. Also, don't want to lose actual money over this.
Sorry if this is a silly question but I tried googling a guide of sorts but it hasn't been helpful.

You just never put the plot down, go back to talking to Nook about island layout, he'll tell you he's already moving a house, and you get the option to say "about that... Let's not move it". He then proceeds to refund you of the amount you paid to move it!

after nook gives you the kit, talk to him and you can return it! you get your bells back

Sadly I don't think it is a guarantee, but I do believe it can help!
Hang in there, you seem to have had some bad luck with that thought bubble but fingers crossed RGN don't mess with you too much longer haha!
