Could data corrupt in this way?

Hey.
I was thinking about data corruption, and this came to mind:
I have a physical copy of the game. If I formatted my 3DS and put the cartridge back in the system after I'd set it up again and loaded up my game, would the data corrupt?
In short, could the data on my game corrupt on my physical copy from formatting my system?

I don't think it would, only if you messed up the SD card or cartridge.​

I doubt it, since the data is kept on the card itself.

If you own a physical copy, all of the data (minus the HHA Showcase, photos and Streetpass information) is saved to the card itself. So I don't think anything will corrupt/erase.

No. The data is kept on the cartridge so it will not corrupt.

Deleting all of the data on my 3DS system. Like streetpass, activity log, everything really.
