but we shouldn't have to do this.
AC should not corrupt. it shouldn't be an issue, nintendo should just fix it. obviously there is some major technical error in AC game cards. luckily I have never had my game corrupt but these stories still scare me.

I agree, we shouldn't have to do this but seeing as how Nintendo will not fix it, it's better than losing all your hard work. D;

But what about those who don't have powersave devices. Do we just have to hope that we don't get corruption? Also I don't understand how the OP could have corrupted their entire game card, not just their town. It's kind of Scary that this can happen.

I hate to say this, but the only thing you can do is restart once it corrupts.

Games like Animal Crossing New Leaf and Pokemon x or y have crazy amounts of DLC, so they will not create a full backup save in the SD card. Cause in theory what if someone was to give away all of their stuff then find a way to restore their old save... they'd prolly tell everyone on the internet and therefore DLC wouldn't be a big deal anymore. So once one of those games corrupt there is no way to return them. You have to start at square one.

My friend who has a PowerSave corrupted their file using that device and were not able to restore their original game (even with the Power Save) So that's not a safe alternative either. Expect third party devices to not be the saving grace you want them to be. There's always a catch.

So you have to be extra careful with what you do with popular 3DS games that have trade-able DLC options, because Nintendo will not allow those games to have those kinda backups. Once it corrupts all you can do is die inside.

Nintendo won't fix these problems because it's their way of securing DLC content. So you just have to make sure you don't mess around with your game and be extra careful. Nintendo really tries to protect their stuff, so anything that can compromise content, such as powersaving or duping or incorrectly saving... expect that it (can but not always) corrupt your file. It's like covering punishment for the potential cheaters they can't monitor. Sometimes innocent people get caught up in the mix though.

But of course unprovoked corruptions are uncommon for AC so they should be reported to Nintendo when they happen in case theres a bug that needs to be patched.

Also if your game keep corrupting you might just need a new SD card. Which are relatively inexpensive in comparison of buying a new game.

I'm sorry to hear about that happening though. :{ Theres so much to do in Animal Crossing that losing all that effort must really be depressing. I hope the best works out for this situation.

I can help you out, too. I'll try to help you cycle your villagers back. They, of course, won't "remember" you, but at least you can rebuild with them. I also have a bunch of bells I can give you among other things. We're definitely here for you. <3


It's like losing a family member, I know. The same thing happened to me awhile back. It was heartbreaking.

Little update: I have a new cartridge! I sold all my old DS games to GAME and I only had to pay ?10 for a new game
But I'm desperately low on bells and TBT to get my town going. Could anyone help me, please? Anything to restore Starlark back to its awesome glory!
I'm not asking for much, whatever you want to give/ are comfortable with giving me will go a long way! :3
