Corrupted data restored itself?

So um, wow, something weird happened to me.

About a week ago my cycling town got corrupted for no reason. It doesn't bother me much since it was a only a cycling town, but it was still a bummer since I have some populars that I wanted to give away (Molly, Lolly, Marshal, Phoebe, Bam...).

I deleted the data as instructed, and started a new town. Got pretty decent starters (Erik and Whitney!). Then I saved and quit, and left the game for a week because I was busy.

This morning I loaded my game to cycle, and to my surprise Lolly is in the title screen! I quickly checked the town, and it is definitely the town that got corrupted. For some reason it reverted back to the last time I saved before it the corruption.

Not that I'm complaining to get the old town back, but it's just so strange @_@ I can't help but to think that something is going to be terribly wrong xD
Anyone ever heard of this happening? My copy is pyshical by the way.

She has a physical copy too; it seems that it only happens to physical copies. You could try loading your town multiple times to see if it corrupts again. If it does, I would buy another copy. Dx

Corrupted saved data restoring itself is rare but in my book is likely to corrupt again depending on the condition of the cart, the 3DS, or the internal saved data itself (as for example it was saved incorrectly.). I don't know much about corrupted saved data in Animal Crossing New Leaf, but keep an eye on your cart if it happens again. It's happened to people more than once in the past with the same game copy corrupting.

Fragmented data stored somewhere? Thinking the game didn't really delete your town when you told it to, or at least not completely.... And you get random stuff being loaded from whatever place that old data is stored in. So I guess it proceeds to overwrite something or each other. Hard to tell what happened. o-o
