OK first of all why don't you make sure your spelling and grammar are correct.
Second of all, obviously you don't know anything about the Health Care bill or the passing...

The Health Care bill was passed, yes, even though 70% of Americans said they didn't want it. Well did you know that now that it's in "passing" they are going through it and making changes to better please the people of America. And I don't know if you've forgotten but those people who passed the bill have their tails between their legs, because their up for re-election pretty soon. So, before you go off about how President Obama is a horrible president or how he hasn't done anything or go on ranting and raving about this health care bill. Get your facts straight.

Thanks :)
But he isn't a good pres- not even gonna go there again.

This is an internet forum. It's not a class on how to deal with people who insult you in the real world. You claim to be a part of this discussion, yet you have contributed little other than criticism of one user. This is a waste of everyone's time.

Seriously? I can't call him a *censored.3.0*ing creep for saying that he thinks we should kill a billion innocent people? Have you lost your damn mind?

On the contrary, I have given a point by point refutation of this guy's posts several times. And I didn't just mean in this thread. Check out Kaleb's thread about his psychological issues, for example.

Really?!

Wow thanks for clearin that one up :) whoo, I was confused for a little bit.

I asked both of you to discuss the topics without calling each other names like children. You ignored my post and you were warned as a result. That wasn't the only thing you said in this thread. Your motivation for insulting isn't relevant. Next time do what you claimed to do: discuss the topic, not the person.

Then feel free to step away from the topic assured that you have won the "debate"...

Hey Jamie, I think it's about time we call this thread busted and lock it. It's become a flame war.

No, I have a duty to western civilization to address instances of violence and violent beliefs and denounce those who propagate them.

I have denounced violence in this thread. Did I make a single insult?

No, my insults are not there to degrade the human on the other end of the tubes. That's simply not true. It's to degrade his defective and ignorant ways of thinking.

And seriously, you have a rather capricious record when it comes to deciding what does and does not count as rule-breaking. As for the freedom of speech thing, I was talking in general terms, but this website is certainly not "bound by the market", despite your evident love for libertarian idealism. I don't understand why you think that you have the best judgement when determining what to censor and what not to, because, as I said, it seems to be that you have been remarkably inconsistent in that area. The fact is that your censorship and Sheldon's mindless chauvinism are bothering me, yet you have done nothing to rectify that annoyance, but luckily for you I wouldn't want you to. In the end, perhaps you should decide between the user who is a ravenous contributor, but does not shy away from making his opinions known, and the childish user who seems to only want a soapbox for his ignorant rage.
Everything is "bound by the market." You have the freedom to leave or go to this forum. If you don't like that we don't allow insults, you are free to go to another forum that does allow insults.
He's the admin, he doesn't have to be consistent when it comes to warning people, if you think something is unfair you'll just have to suck it for the time being.
If you don't think I was consistent, please PM me and ]I'm not talking about any specific circumstances, I haven't even been here 24 hours. But what I'm saying is that the warn you gave me was for "flaming" yet I was actually commending Sheldon on his unstoppable optimism. The imagery may have been strange, but its intent was not malicious, and for all you know it may not have been interpreted that way. What I'm saying is that my brand of "insults" as you call them are not nearly as pernicious as allowing a willfully ignorant element of your userbase to be unconditionally protected from anything that might make them a little sad. Forums provide a place for people to grow and learn how to communicate with others with the written word, as well as exposes them to a wide range of ideas and people. If you really think that you're doing people a favor by censoring anything that may be construed as mean, especially considering the content of most website on the internet, then you're out of your mind. When was the last time your forums had a thread with discussion this deep?

He's the admin, he doesn't have to be consistent when it comes to warning people, if you think something is unfair you'll just have to suck it for the time being.
Thanks, but perhaps you can leave your sucking up for some other time? It makes your argument easy to ignore.
I believe that you have misunderstood me. I was not sucking up to an admin, I was however informing you on your situation in the argument. Jeremy has more power than you on this forum, no matter how right or wrong he is my friend, because if he doesn't like something you say, then he can merely ban you from the forum, not saying he would, but he can. Sometimes it is smarter to stay in your place, rather to to challenge authority and get excommunicated from the church.

Great, I don't care. This person needs to know that holding such beliefs is detestable, and that decent people will tell him so. He is a creep, whether or not you want to call him that. And it's rather annoying how you've conveniently glossed over my statement about sheltering your users. Perhaps it's time you removed the training wheels? The paradoxical thing in all this is the fact that Sheldon probably didn't even see the comment, and I can guarantee you he wouldn't have cared.

and even if he did see it, I'm sure he's a big boy and can handle it.
A few insults here and there aren't going to kill anyone, and sometimes someone needs insulted to get some sense into them.

You can say anything without insults xD

I think my main annoyance is that when you say insults, what you really mean is, "anything that can be construed as a negative view of someone's character or beliefs." A creep is a detestable person. I know for a fact if I had called him a detestable person in that case, you would have still given me a warn for it. It's not the insults, it's the fact that you are against anything but the most saccharine and banal discourse on your forum. Why do that to your users?

I have seen many detestable statements at this forum and on the internet in general. Some would also say that insulting is detestable. Don't you think it's hypocritical to say that he is treating people as subhumans? Then you use insults to treat him as a subhuman. Certainly if someone is advocating genocide, they are misguided. As you have already pointed out, the issue was debated. Did you lose the argument? If you were able to discuss the issue in a mature manner, there was no reason for you to continue something that was already finished.

No, if your beliefs negate the beliefs of someone else, it is simply a disagreement.

Good people can have bad beliefs.

Well, I never said he was treating people as subhumans, but I would agree that he does seem to regard the brown people of the middle east as subhumans. I never said he was subhuman, however. I said he was detestable for saying that we should kill a billion human beings. I'm getting very annoyed at the way you lump the both of us together.

As for what can barely be called the "debate", there is not often a clear winner or loser, and there doesn't need to be. The fact is that I addressed each of his points by pointing out just how insane they were, and he replied with more of the same drivel. I eventually gave up on him and pursued other people's opinions in the thread. Please reread the discussion and tell me that I did not use a mature manner. True my writing was terse and angry at times, but I believe I epitomized maturity in this thread, up until his idiocy became too much to bear, at which point I dismissed and largely ignored him. Internet discussions don't follow a debate format often... it's more like two rival polemicists going at it with all everything they've got.

Wow, that's an interesting point that is in no way related to what I had said. As for your "good people, bad beliefs" comment: great! And detestable people believe it is acceptable to kill innocent lives by the billion.
