Corrupt file

So I woke up this morning, opened up my game, and my worst nightmare had happened.

My save file corrupted

Don't know how, don't know why. All I know is I was, and still am really upset about it. All that hard work, gone >.<

So I started a new town, from scratch. I'm trying to be optimistic about it, I guess now I can really make the town how I want it to be. I made sure to start out with oranges, my fav fruit in RL and Animal Crossing. Really made sure to pick a town layout I loved, and house placement I loved. I'm also grateful to have lots of family who play Animal Crossing and they promised to help me get back my dream villagers. I already edited my sig with new town details. I am now Togepi from the town of Teacup

Anyways, has anyone else had this happen to them?

Yeah, many times. Funny thing is it never corrupts while I accidentally power off while its saving but it does when I just wake up one day and there's no reason it should have corrupted.
Now that my town is great I don't want it to happen again and I'm being really careful

Yup. I can't recall doing anything wrong. I've never restarted/powered off while saving or anything like that.

I'm so sorry your save file corrupted ): If you ever need any help getting your town back on track, feel free to ask me! I mean, like you said, at least now you have a great town layout, awesome oranges, and now you can build your ultimate dream town!

I'd like to point out though that this isn't the first time its happened to me either. When I returned to my last town, after not playing for a year, I came back to a corrupted file as well.

Maybe I just have a defective game card? Unless this happens often to the majority of people..I dunno

Fauna, Ava, Grizzly and Ruby. But lots of my family and RL friends have them in their towns and I'll quite likely get them from those people. But my other dreamies are Zell and Sly. Thanks so much, I appreciate it :3

Its a cartridge. Honestly I dont know how it can corrupt. As I said, this isnt the first time either. I tried to do research on it earlier but just gave up. I guess its better to not dwell on it

If it's not the first time maybe contact Nintendo? Maybe they'll send you a free cart. Someone else mentioned getting one, though they were using the digital copy. Can't hurt to try though. And hey, free cart!

I don't get why certain people seem to have this issue. Are you using the default SD card that came with your 3DS, or did you swap it out? And if so, with which brand?

I've actually never used a default SD card in my 3DS systems, and I've never corrupted, even through a data transfer.

But that's weird. You'd think data wouldn't corrupt with the default card o-o. So weird why this happens...

I would contact them, definitely! And definitely say this has happened before! You can use it as a cycling town to get some of your old dreamies back~ =3
