Confused on how I dropped from a 5 star island to a 4 star island

Isabelle says I have too many items cluttering the island, but there aren't any dropped items anywhere! Everything is placed and there's no DIYs, fruits, turnips, or wood either.

I did tidy up my island by removing excess flowers, but how much would that have affected my score? Before I did so, I checked and I was still at five stars, so did I get rid of too many flowers and now the balance is off?

Any advice would be much appreciated as I don't want to go into the next day still at four stars!

UPDATE:

Turns out it was three log stools I had placed in an area behind my museum earlier today! I guess there were too many items, shrubs, and trees as once I took those away I was back to a five star rating!

Thank you to those who commented as otherwise I wouldn't have realized that could be an issue!

Do you have any materials placed on a table or stall? Isabelle counts those as "dropped" items.

Can't have more than 15 dropped items on your island at one time.

If its not related to dropped items it might be the amount of stuff u placed in one place,
when i got my 5 star i noticed it has to do with spreading items all over the map and not just in one area if that make sense

Everything I have on stalls or tables have given me the option to place them so that shouldn't be it. Or do those still count even if they're a furniture item?

yep, u either have to place more items in other places or remove some from the cluttered area

Hmm, that might be it. I didn't think any of my areas were too busy with furniture as I like having more spacious areas!

It depends. Regular furniture won't count. But placing items such as iron nuggets do count.

That could be! I'll take a look around my island see if there's anything I can change to affect my score more positively!

Oh, I don't have any crafting materials on the island either. I wish I did so I would know what to fix!
