Confused - Lily of the Valley

I found a white Lily of the Valley this morning. Dug it up to find out what it was, then googled as this is my first time playing AC. Google says LOV only grows with 5* rating but I just checked with Isabelle & I'm only at 4* plus my island is in complete disarray as I'm in the middle of a huge terraform & reorg...

They only spawn when your island is 5*, but it's possible that when you dug it up your rating got lowered to 4*. Your island being in disarray is okay, as long as you meet the requirements (flowers, trees, furniture, diys) for a 5* island.

Ah ok thank you, that's exciting that I'm pretty close then as I've been working hard for it haha

I echo everything else said. Make sure you have less than 15 dropped items on the floor since that's an easy one to drop your rating! Put everything you don't need in your storage!

Ah it's probably this then as I'd dropped a load of items waiting for nooks to open!

If you can place them instead, do that! Even for fossils despite them taking up so much space. When you place items instead of dropping, your rating should go back up
