Confounded tripping!

Me and my friend both have noticed that on some days our characters trip, except we haven't visited Katrina on those days or worn the King Tut mask. My friend has even decorated his home according to the feng shui thing, so if anything his luck should be above average.

I don't recall this ever happening before the update. What changed?

It's just the random luck of the day. There are some days you have bad luck and will trip. I believe you can get rid of it by wearing the lucky item of the day (although I've never tried). When it happens to me, I just normally walk instead of run.

Every day has a fortune - you can find out what it is by either visiting Katrina (if you have her shop) or via the Lovely phone.
On the whole I don't take much notice of the fortunes, (maybe I should) but agreed the bad luck day where you trip is exceedingly annoying. (you will also trip on your own island, don't know about the CT island, probably).

You neutralise the bad fortune by wearing the lucky item of the day or one of the two hats Katrina will sell to you once she has a shop (have at least 10k showing and be 'lucky' in not already wearing the lucky item for the day - she will sometimes offer to sell one of the hats: Celebration hat (red) or Tingle hood (edit: oops I think of it as a hat, green) 10k to buy off her, but orderable for a few bells!)
Feng shui does not affect the luck for the day: (as far as I know, well it doesn't for me & I am almost maxed out on all characters)

I like the two Katrina hats as they are both x2 of their colour, both are in feng shui colours & can be put on mannequins correctly placed for feng shui.

Be careful with your balloons if you trip! I've heard they float away if you trip while using one.

The tripping is a bit unrealistic...killed more than a few flowers because of it.

Of course, this is animal crossing, but still! Also, I think Katrina charges too much for her fortunes (used to be so cheap in the older games). Oh well, it's still a form of entertainment for me.

I'm pretty sure it's always been 500 bells, which isn't that much.
