Communication?

Does anyone use any kind of app or anything to communicate with ACNL friends when online? Either on DS or a phone app? Not sure if that makes sense, I'm still pretty new to this. Thanks to anyone who replies!

Well I use the chat function in game...does that count?

I just use the chat function on the ds. It's not idea with having a word limit and it's incredibly slow...
