Does anyone else do this to help relax? If so what books would you recommend, I have some of the johanna basford ones that I enjoy, someone mentioned darius song so I got those, I like those types of books but so many websites don't show the images inside an some I'd like to know what am paying for incase I don't like them, I can't deal with a lot of those that every page is just detail top to bottom

I don’t necessarily color, but I do draw sometimes. It does help relieve stress. Yes, a lot of pages don’t show inside the books. Sometimes I wish you could get a sneak peek of maybe one or two pages? It’s not giving away much information. Besides, you still have to pay for the book even if they show you a few pages out of it. I understand with reading materials, but not coloring books. That’s kind of dumb, honestly.

Exactly, there's so many I've thought about trying but I don't know what the images are like inside so I haven't bothered with them, I don't understand why they feel thru need to hide them

I do like the parody ones though, little more entertaining, I have the guine pig one an it's like guinea pigs in film an TV, got harley pig, doctor poo, paws, spider pig etc

I actually bought this one since I like Pusheen. It's nice because it's got a combo of designs from top to bottom but also ones with more simple artwork that won't take hours to complete. I like the variety because you can choose depending on what mood you're in. I also recommend Twistable coloured pencils. No sharpening involved. I love them.

Oh that's really cute, I love all the cute ones, I find it's easier to chill with the ones like that than the more detailed ones that you feel you have to shade an detail more

I have a ton of pencils lol I guess I have a bit of a problem since I can't resist them, although pricey (trust me I saved for months) I have the faber castell polychromos pencils, got the full 120 set and I absolutely love them to bits, they hold a sharp point amazing well an you can buy single as well when you need to replace, I also have the skin colour crayolas an honestly for what would be classed as the cheap range those are really good, you can really get realistic skin colours with them an they don't need to be layered as much as other pencil brands to get the shades you want, I am also looking at the arteza pencils as I've heard those are a really good prismacolour replacement

I loved coloring back in the days, nowadays I still draw here and there some simple doodles which I then coloring afterwards. Now that I think about it, I should maybe get a nice coloring book for the holidays when I need something to relax.

I love coloring books! I used to have a bunch as a kid, which have since been lost or put into storage, so I've been building up my collection again. I currently have two Lisa Frank books, a Super Mario book, and a Spongebob book. I usually buy them at dollar stores and retailers that carry kids coloring books. they're always really fun to color in and it's nice because I can make my coloring as intricate or as simple as I feel like making them.

also idk if I'm the only person who thinks this but I really don't like those "adult" coloring books, if anything the super detailed coloring pages actually stress me out more than they relax me lol.

Oohh that's really good, I love when people get imaginative with it, I never think of adding things or changing things, just sort of do what's already down but I do love seeing people change it, really makes it even better

The main one I've been using is a Kaleidoscope Coloring - Majestic Creatures book that I picked up while I was waiting in the grocery store checkout line a couple years back. I am finally almost through it though ahaha. It's been a pretty good little book, I have to say—it probably does tend towards more detailed designs, but there's definitely a good amount of simpler pages in there as well. ^^
With coloring books, I love coloring with glitter gel pens; I think they help me to relax and not fret over the image too much. I've been using the Aen Art 100 pack, and they're very smooth and sparkly—the metallic ones seem to be very opaque and are a little tricky to work with, but overall I'm quite happy with them. Not the best option if you want to do shading, though.

I've been looking for metallic an glitter pens to use, how are they with bleeding through the pages? Some of my books are double sided so if it bleeds though then it's going ruin the image on the other side but I still want to find really strong coloured ones to use

I had to look closely at the flag to see you added that yourself. It honestly looks like part of the picture from a distance. Very nice lineart there. I like how the coloring is perfectly shaded as well.

I'm afraid I wouldn't use these with a double-sided book; they've never bled through the page entirely for me*, but the colors are somewhat visible on the back of the pages, the darker and more saturated ones especially. ;; And this might just be my fault for being impatient, but the ink does stay wet for a little while, and I've had a small amount transfer to the back of the page before it after closing the book.

*Just a little aside for anyone else who might be looking for pens; paper quality can vary a lot between books, so definitely test your pens with any blank pages in the front or back of the book first to be certain of how much bleed-through to expect.

Ahh that's a pity, I do have some books that's one sided but most aren't, I got ivy an the inky butterfly an I'd love to use a pen to highlight some areas, I always put paper behind the page am working on anyway but if a pen bleeds through then it's gonna bleed through onto the image behind it, some of my books also have tester pages which I love especially if they are a slightly off white colour, means I can get a true colour of what my pencils will be like when I go to colour
