Collectible Badge Center
Surprise surprise! The customization capability of the HOME Menu has just expanded once again. Just in case HOME Menu Themes weren't enough satisfying for you, Nintendo went ahead and added the ability to add badges on your HOME Menu. Well, after you booted a software called "Collectible Badge Center" downloaded from eShop, you can start collecting badges by playing the crane machine. So far, only Japan have gotten this feature at the moment.
The first time you start up the software, you will be given 5 tries for free to attempt getting the badges. Afterwards, you will need to dole out 90 yen (or 90?) to get 5 more attempts. You can also get more tries by completing certain challenges for free, once per day.
You'll find badges that came from NES Super Mario Bros., Mario characters, Mario Kart 8 and Animal Crossing as of now. Some badges are acting as a shortcut for certain system apps (such as Mii Maker).
There are also exclusive Themes found in Collectible Badge Center, but I don't exactly know on how to get them so far, but it seems to involve using the crane machine once again.
