Was that this past Sunday, perchance? Apparently you can't work there on event days.

yes it was last night close to midnight and again this morning...but this morning I might have had my gate open but not sure...can you only work once per day?

I'm pretty sure I've worked there after 11pm as I work evenings so I don't always get to play until 11:30pm some days but I'm not 100% sure. If I do then I'll comment here.

Also, today Tipper came into my cafe whilst I was working. I've never had Tipper live in my town. But I think she may have been a camper. Does anyone know if the characters are random? I always thought it was only villagers in your town and NPCs that would visit whilst you were working.

I had Scoot come over for coffee. He doesn't live in my town and he wasn't camping there. So that was mysterious. That's apparently something that happens.

Yes you have time to look up their preference, you don't have a time limit. I always stop to look up the characters preferences as soon as they come to the counter.
