I was just trying to go around island hopping, and I got on an island with another girl.
She was pretty kind, saying hi and asking me if we would like to be friends.
I didn't want to ignore her on purpose, so I said sure, and we exchanged FCs (well, I didn't register her >~>) and she asked me to open my gates which I thought was a bit fishy...

Err, any ideas on how to avoid becoming 'friends' with them?
It's not that I don't like them, but I'm against the idea of letting them into my town without any previous conversations towards them...plus, I'm quite paranoid of my town

Just tell them you don't memorise your FC. Always works for me. :)

I've actually met my closest AC friends through the island! A lot of them are quite nice.

Most people I trust, but if someone seems hella fishy, I tell them straight up,
"I don't trust you, sorry." Mean, but honest.

Regardless, I haven't had a single bad island experience yet. c:

It's all about your comfort. Politely decline and that's all there is to it. They have absolutely no real reason to get mad about that; you just met them! xD

Funny thing was that when she asked if she could visit, I said that she could visit my Dream Town.
But she said it's not real life.
I replied, 'This is a virtual game .-.'

I think I have met this one twice and a few people who Island hop know her. She appears to literally live on Tortimer Islands. When she tried it the first time she said she was 8 and gave me her FC. I eventually moved on after making her wait for so long without giving my FC to her. The second time (next day) I met her and she recalled me (with good reason) and said she was 9 as it was her birthday that day but one of the girls pointed out she had just told them she was 8... huh

While they were talking I quickly took her Dream address. She begged for my FC and I gave her a fake one. She then begged to come to my town and one of the girls said she is known for getting into people's towns to DESTROY them so; anyone be aware. I pretended to ignore this advice and lied I had already added her from the previous day. The so called "little girl" turned dark saying open now and started counting down and flipped the wifi. She must have really waited!!!

I later dream visited her town which was horrible and severely neglected. Some of those poor animals kept telling me their town was the best, poor things :(

But if it was me I will probably ignore them and go off. Ain't got time for kids.

I Club Tortimer'd today and met a canadian girl like this. I was like "sorry, no" and she kept telling me to "add her" and saying "why". Then I was just like "I got to go" and she was like "no". I left anyway.

She was probably super young but seriously, "no"? Like what are you trying to achieve.

On another note, met like three beggars and a bunch of afk people. But like 2 nice people! What a fun experience.

I met a girl who called herself Colors from the town of Colorful. We had fun on some tours, but I think someone showed up and Resetti'd us. I looked for her town in the Dream Suite, but at the time, it wouldn't find her, and I eventually forgot the town name (and there were many people named Colors). A while later, my animals said they had seen her in their dreams, which was super nice of her to visit me. So, I visited her town in return.

There was another really nice French girl who didn't speak much English, so we had fun touring, but with limited communication. I tried to find her in the Dream Suite with no success.

Not really any other good stories like that, but nothing too bad. The worst was some idiot who got mad because I was catching more seafood than him and he started in with the language. I flipped the wifi. Not putting up with that.

Keep your distance and don't let her push you. It's good to be polite, but if someone starts getting on your nerves you should draw a line there. Otherwise you'll end up being treated as a doormat. Just tell her that you don't want strangers to visit your town and delete her from your list if she keeps bugging you. You needn't justify yourself when people don't respect your words.

i went on yesterday and met this japanese girl and i was like "oh she seems normal" since i couldn't understand what she was saying (she was typing in japanese).. then she did the yen dollar sign & 100000
and i was "hohoho i know where this is leading too.." and she stood next to the abd and was like "---->"
and so i dropped her 1 bell and attempted to hit her with an axe.
the end

i'm on right now x.c
this guy asked for 2m, then changed to 1m when i declined
then 500k.. now 250! he says someone stole their bells but he doesnt know how... :<

edit*

he changed his mind and said someone scammed him by saying if he dropped all his bells that they would give him how ever much he wanted, then he said that he couldn't make his own bells because the scammer made it so they could only catch one bug on the island. then he said he was 6 so please....
and wuuurrgghhh
then he said 'fine i guess i'll just go then...' and walked to leilani and talked to her... then he canceled and ran out of sight.
Then he started begging again! and he still is! Dx

I left. :<
I don't get it!! u n u
he kept saying he couldnt make bells in his own town.
that's my first 'odd' visit with club tortimer xD

I haven't had that experience yet. But I have once come across a beggar for bells. He asked for a million, I said no. He asked for 50000, I said NO. He asked for 25000, I told him I spent the last of my bells on the island trip. I then selected to never run into him again and I left with the 18000 bells I had. So I guess saying no is the best option for you.

There is no real danger to invite anyone to town, especially if you supervise the visitor. See something you don't like happened to it? Just disconnect and the damages won't be saved, and if the person didn't follow one of your rules, proceed to delete them off your friends list. So really, just be cool about it and don't miss out on potential friends.

Or just tell them you don't want to play instead of lying to them, at least that's what I'd do.

I never exchange FCs. I did it once and now they're one of my good AC friends, but I still don't trust most people on the island.

lol, yesterday someone asked "Does anyone here have a million bells?" and everyone was like "nope" except me, I said "yeah" and they asked "how much?" and I (rather sheepishly uwu) said "about 13m" and he was like "give me 1m" and I was like yknow what what do I have to lose and I dropped 500k and he was really happy.

Then I asked to buy the four-leaf clover in his hair and he was like "wtf dude earn it yourself". look who's talking!

...oops I started rambling ._.

I love club tortimer.I go there when I'm bored. If the person there is boring I'll leave and come back until I encounter someone entertaining. This could be someone whos polite and talkitive or rude and annoying.(yes the rude ones entertain me.lol.)
I have made some good friends on the Island.I am always polite no matter how rude they are.
I only give my code to players over 18.( no offense to you younger ones.)
And I always insist on visiting their town first.( gives me a chance to check out their town and decide if I should trust them.)
I always have them follow me for a tour of my town on first visit.( this helps me decide if they can behave in my town or not.)

When they ask for fc's right away or ask your age, it usually means they are very young.I tell them I am 72 and they freak out and don't want my code anymore.lol.(Thats not my real age.)

Or I say that I don't know my code. That usually works.I feel guilty giving a fake address.Iv'e done that twice and felt bad when I left.

Anyway.Club tortimir is great. You just can't let the annoying encounters bother you.
