I had reset my Main Town and have toured on the regular island enough to get a bit over 400 medals and now I want to start spending them on cool items. I went to the Island for Club Tortimer Members about 5 times in a row last night but nothing cool was for sale there. It was the usual Mermaid stuff, tropical shirt, and swim mask. Or else a Cabana item.

Do you have to go a certain number of times to get the silver axes, toy hammers, and other cool stuff, or was I just unlucky?

There's no specific number of times you need to visit the island; it's completely up to chance. Honestly, 5 times in a row is nothing. When they say "island rares," they mean rare. You might get something interesting every 20 or so tries. I've gone to Club Tortimer hundreds of times, and I still need about 4 or 5 island items that I've never seen before. Some days you just get lucky, but if you don't see anything interesting even after going there ~20 times, it's not being unlucky either; it's just kind of par for the course.

By the end of this, you'll probably hate the Mermaid/Cabana series, all the non-rare clothes, and the hibiscus starts, just fyi. I wouldn't try to get all the rare items in one day. You'll just be sitting there for hours wasting money.

Every time I wanted a certain item it took many trips over several days to get it, most recently the treasure chest, so it's not just you :). Now I've got as many hammers and silver axes as I could want I seem to find them a lot, even my own island a few times.

Thank you, guys! I really wondered if it was just me. I didn't realise how "rare" "rare items" really are! I never went to CT much before because people would harass me, but this time I really want to get a few of the items if I can. I already had a complete Mermaid Set and most of the Cabana, but I had hoped for the Cabana Chest (I think it is), the hammer, a silver axe or two, and I think there's a ship in a bottle? Anyway, now that I know 5 times if nothing, I'll just keep trying on and off and see if I can get lucky now and again as for what's for sale there.

Good luck :), it's time consuming but can be fun. I usually go late at night on the international island, I've never had a problem with anyone at that time :).

Oh...international late a night? Good idea! I play late at night so that would be perfect. I keep trying a few time every session and then just go alone to get beetles and sharks and continue to rack up medals. Plus, this time I may get higher than the Bronze Badge for tours. :)

I do want that treasure chest, tho, and really want that hammer I hear people talk about! Well, it's bound to turn up soon at the rate I'm determined to find it. :D

Seconding! I was often one of those annoying people who showed up, checked out the gift shop, and then left instead of playing minigames with whoever was there, but I did manage to pick up stuff like the sandcastle and the treasure chest, as well as a cute striped wetsuit! ^ ^

I guess I should clarify, there are both Club Tortimer-exclusive items, and "rare" items. Rare items can show up on your own island, but, like I said, they are super rare. I've found that the Club Tortimer exclusives are uncommon at worst, and you'll probably end up hating those as well once you see them multiple times, haha. I believe the Bottled Ship is a Club Tortimer item, but the Toy Hammer, Treasure Chest and the Silver Axe are rare, so you might be at it for a while.

Best of luck getting them! You'll need it.

You can definitely pick up silver axes at your own island, but they're rare. Fortunately, they're also cheap, so when they do show up it won't be crazy hard to stock up. I remember purchasing around thirty of them last summer.

Ooh! A sandcastle? That sounds great! Striped suit? Cool again! Yeah...I just want to show up and see what's for sale. If somebody asks me to tour with them I will, but when they run at you to try and crowd you to keep you from leaving it's really creepy and just plain not cool. Still...I want at least a few of those items! I know I have enough for a wetsuit and the treasure chest, and if I guess right, maybe something else. So far I have something like 423 medals. So I should be pretty good. I just have to be lucky enough to catch the Shark Tours and the Big Kahuna ones that give out a lot of easy medals.

423 medals? You are golden! You'll be able to buy whatever you want, I think, with spares for trading. \o/

Heh...I've been working hard and nearly gone shark-blind. But when I saw that many I whooped out loud!

Now that I think of it, if I can continue on the few tours I'm actually good at, then trading would be a great idea! I am embarrassingly lousy at hide and seek (VERY embarrassingly bad even on just Official level) and even the Easy Labyrinth is the bane of my existence. Oh, and the Hammer tour? I can only manage Easy level. I stink at most of the tours except the Kahuna, Shark, and Item Matching.

Personally, my best medal making tour is the Elite Scavenger Hunt, where I pull in 16 medals every time. Like you, I am also a total hide and seek failure (just WOW, so bad) and I always end up laughing too hard to do well at the Hammer tour.

Keep your eye out for pink wetsuits- those seem to be continuously fairly popular on the retail forums.
