You may! Although Stitches will be going to a friend the first time he is in town, but I will get him again later. So you may have to be pretty patient.

As for the reservations, basically what they do is guarantee that you get a villager, and no one else can take them except you. When they're in boxes, I'll PM you so you can come pick them up! It's a lot like lurking except you get the villager first for sure.

The exceptions for this are all of the villagers in the "Special!" spoiler box, as they cannot be reserved until after my friends get them. Sorry for the lengthy reply!
