Cleaning the Void - how?

So I just saw a post on the trading boards saying to "please have a clean void" before going over to trade. I understand what this means, but I don't understand how to clear your void exactly? Just visit another town and you are essentially dumping your void on that town? Or what? Help a lady out here~

Find a friend who already has 10 villagers. They can't get your random voided villagers

The usual method is to visit a town that has at least 10 villagers already, like SoSu said. Supposedly, the villager who has been voided will try to move into the full town and won't move into any others.

On the other hand, I've seen posts saying it's impossible to clear your void and people talking about voided villagers staying in their void. I also think that if the person who has a full town moves someone out, they can move there if they get rid of one of their villagers, but I'm not sure.

I tend to put those on my trades just in case, but I don't know if the rumours that you can or can't clear your void are true. Personally, I don't feel very upset over random move-ins, but if it's really preventable then I'd like the people I trade with to either have a clear void or having villagers I really like in there.

You can't clear your void. It's just a myth. Anyone of your last 16 villagers can move in to another town when they darn well please.
