Citizen Satisfaction Failure? Help?

Hello forum! My villagers seem to think they do not live in a perfect town... I happen to know that I have enough trees, flowers, and PWPs to make them happy. Yet when I talk to Isabelle, she tells me there is "junk" in my town... Saying my animals feel they are living in a "landfill"...
So my question to you today is what do animals count as trash in your town?? Because the only thing I having laying around are some mushrooms and seashells around my octopi homes... Or are they unhappy with undug fossils/gyroids? This may seem a newb topic but I just wonder what animals don't like laying around. Please lemme know and thank you for your time!

it will be the shells and the buried gyroids. Fossils that are buried and haven't been assessed won't count as trash but anything else lying around will. Remove the shells and dig the gyroids and she should tell you it's the best town ever

The villagers don't want much on the ground; just flowers and trees. I think it's okay to shake a tree and leave the fruit on the ground...as long as it isn't rotten fruit. And don't put down baskets of fruit. Shells and flowers on the beach are okay.

All of my shells are on the beach. I'm not sure how the villagers feel about them being in town. As a test, you can put some down and see what Isabelle has to say.

Shells are perfectly fine as long as they're on the beach!
Buried gyroids and fossil are fine too!
Just make sure you have everything off the ground like your items and clothing etc.

You have to remove anything from the ground that is not trees, flowers or mushrooms. No shells, no fruit baskets, no gyroids. I had a perfect rating and then I circled Coco's house with gyroids because she was amassing a gyroid army. Then I also got the 'landfill' message which was a total bummer because it looked so cool. Sea shells around the octopi homes sounds SO cute too!

I'm going to leave a few baskets of perfect fruit around my plaza because I like how it looks. That means my town won't be considered perfect anymore, but that's okay. I got my golden watering can and all of the Jacob's Ladders I want, anyway. After you get what you want, I think you should "trash" your town to make it look the way you want it to!

I have around 8-9 ores laying around and still got perfect town (dont have it now because I had to reset my second town and dropped off items I wanted to keep at the station) but I already have the golden watering can and jacob ladders growing so perfect town mehh haha. But definitely keep the items you have laying on the ground around town to a minimum.

You can have up to nine or ten "trash" items/weeds on the ground before it sends you into landfill territory. But any more than that and you lose your perfect town status. So if you have nine, and a new weed sprouts up, you're toast.

I have shells and coral all around my town and on my beaches, and it has never affected my perfect town rating :3 but I also have a solar panel, and a windmill which both make it easier to get and keep a perfect town rating. If your town isn't a beautiful town already, I suggest enacting that ordinance because it will keep trash from appearing in your ponds and ocean (it also makes weeds much less common; I'm lucky to see one weed in my town a month).

Shells are fine on the beach, I was under the impression that these were placed in the town though.
Seeing as there is nothing else it can be and I've had the same problem I'd say it's likely that's what's happening here

That's the same information I have too. Buried gyroids count as trash, unassessed fossils don't

Definitely the shells. Nearly anything counts as rubbish, disappointingly. Few exceptions are buried fossils and single pieces of fruit.

Thanks so much for the help everyone!! I was just confused. It makes me sad how picky animals can be, shells and gyroids and all sorts of things make such good decor!! I even tried making a heart out of cake, they hate it. D: I will keep them pleased only long enough to get plenty of Jacob ladders... Then Mayor decorates her way!! >:3 This has been very informative though.

You can leave baskets of fruit at the train station and still have a perfect town.
I have 5 baskets of all the perfect fruit at my train station or on the ramp at the beach.
Yesterday I had the highest rating.

If you leave a lot of baskets Isabelle will freak out. Pick most of them up and than she says it's beautiful again.
