Chowder (TV series discussion)

Bumping why not?

Ok, I love Chowder. I absolutely loved how they designed the characters and the "static" textures they used for the clothes and such. I thought it was an extremely creative way of making the characters pop! I am always looking forward to different art styles and techniques/mediums. I also the 2000s cartoon network for that is was I grew up watching! Only a few decently current series on the TV (as of the last time I watched TV, which was about 1 year ago) are good in my standards. I know Cartoon Network, Nick, and Disney are trying to adapt to the new generations, but they are raising children with decently terrible senses of humor.

Anyways. back to Chowder. I adore series that have the kind of random-but-still-kind-of-makes-senses shows (like Adventure Time, Misadventures of Flapjack, Amazing World of Gumball, Gravity Falls, Foster Homes of Imaginary Friends) are apples to my eyes. I am not really a fan of extremely linear plots, not that Chowder has really fleshed out plot. I honor authors/producer/whoever makes these diamonds in the ruff that slowly reveal different points in the plot. I love that feeling of realizing that the snail that appears in every episode of Adventure Time is an important character later on (I think almost everyone knows this by now).

I always looked forward to coming home from school and plopping down on the couch and stare at the TV for 2 hours then realizing I had homework and rushing to complete it before dinner. But sadly, as the years go on, the better shows seem to air when I away. AND when I do remember to watch the episode, it is 1am and I am already falling asleep. Oh, the good days...

The creator of Chowder is making a new show on nick called bad seeds, it looks a lot like Chowder in a way.

I am wondering. Why do people hate Chowder? What's wrong with it?

Well, if you want blunt honesty, it's probably because it's a bad show with no story that's inappropriate for children. Most of the stuff aired on Cartoon Network these days (in the US) is aired on more adult channels like Comedy Central in other countries, and usually is aimed at teenagers or college students.

Wait! You lost me there. What do you mean by most of the stuff aired on Cartoon Network is aired on adult channels?

Not like porn channels, if that's what you're thinking. Like Comedy Central and FX or they're foreign equivalents because they're not appropriate for small children, like I said. I don't let my six-year-old little sister watch Adventure Time or The Regular Show, for example, because they clearly should be rated TV14 just like I don't let her watch Dragon Ball Z, based solely on the fact that the manga is rated T even though the show is rated TVY7. It's because of the messed up rating system we have for television and marketing.

It's true,CN is getting more and more in appropriate. But honestly,Chowder was one of those shows before it started shifting to higher age groups and began getting more stupid.

I did like how they referenced that it was meant for kids ON CAMERA. Like when Chowder told Shnitzel to stop cussing because it's a kid's show.

Teenagers are kids, too, and just because they say it's intended for children doesn't mean it is. Back in the day, I was allowed to watch shows like Ren & Stimpy, which used to be aired on Nickelodeon in the 90s and that was definitely not a kids' show.
