Chip, Fishing Tourney & The Golden Rod

I'm having a bit of a problem, and it's starting to drive me up the wall.

So my one player has caught all 72 fish and all bugs. I TT'd to the Bug Off, Nat handed the Net over gladly. I TT'd to the Fishing Tourney, Chip doesn't even give me the option to say 'Look at my collection!' no matter how many times I talk to him. It doesn't matter what tourney it is, what time it is, I'm beginning to get quite aggravated. Anyone have a solution?

That's odd. For the Bug Off one during the winter I just visited a town that was in summer with a bug off. Got the golden net.
For the fishing tournament I did time travel back to May to get the fishing rod for all 3 players. Do you have a fishing rod in your hand? He wouldn't look at my fishing collection when I had no fishing rod in my hand. Went back to the house to get the fishing rod and he than checked my fishing collection. The fishing rod can only be got in your own town and during the tournament.

The diving didn't count before the update for the fishing. Maybe the update added diving to the fishing collection like the museum?? That wouldn't be fair if they did.

She has all the diving collection, and when I approached him without a fishing rod, he kept insisting he had to sell me one as I couldn't participate without one. I tried with the rod he sold me, and he still won't even look. He keeps talking about catch and release or some other random thing.

Heck, I even tried feeding the guy first and still no dice.

Okay that's very odd. I was going to post try giving him a fish he asked for but you already did.
Right now I have 2 players that just finished their fishing collections but it's summer there. I can't do a big jump to see what happens because I have summer bugs left to catch.

People apparently have experienced this same issue on different forums. I searched it across the internet and three or four other occurrences come up. I have it on sleep right now but I'd really like to get back to Jan 1st. Just not sure what's wrong.

What would you say is the solution? I want to earn it the honest and fair way since I deserve it, not just buy one off someone. Should I give in?

Try going back to January 1st and wait till the next fishing tournament to see what happens.
I did the Time Travel trick a lot for my extra towns for the fishing rods. Never had a problem but that was before the update. For my main town I just waited for the tournament.

If you don't get one on the next tournament than you should buy it. It's not fair that you haven't got it.
