Changing the date/time without closing the game

I see people doing this in videos and I do what they are doing but it doesn't work for me. I click the home button which takes me back to the home screen with the game still running. I go to settings and change the date/time and then go back into the game. when I see others do this their screen goes blank and the game saves and reopens. My game does nothing. Can someone please tell what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

you have to save and quit the game first (you'll see a black screen with a game saved message), then you click on home and go to change the time

You have to go into the "Date/TIme" section on your Switch that is located in settings. Change the date and time. Then thats when you save the game. Wait for the black loading screen. Then you're on the next day or whatever month or year you time traveled too.
