cartridge removed error?

so here lately my ds has been doing this thing when I'm playing acnl where sometimes when I open my ds after it has been closed for a while a message will be on the screen that says something like "the cartridge was removed, please press home button" even if the cartridge is still inserted. it's really annoying because it quits out of my game before I've saved so it makes me lose progress.

does anyone know if this is a problem with my ds or just the cartridge? also is there any way to fix it?

I'm not sure, but my guess is that something's up with the 3DS. You can try contacting Nintendo about it?
If it's not the 3DS, does this happen with any other games? Or just ACNL?

Usually this means the cartridge has dust or the area where the cartridge goes has dust. I suggest dusting the 3ds slot out using one of those high pressure keyboard cleaning thingy's, and if it still doesn't work there may be a problem with the cartridge.

It might mean that the thing that holds in the cart might be wearing out. Just be sure not to jostle the 3ds or the cart too much while it's in there and you should be fine.

ah ok! thank you that's probably it, I've had this ds for years and I certainly get a lot of use out of it

it might just be dirty, you can clean it out. that happened to me once as well. use a spray or just blow into the cartridge holder really hard, and maybe that will help?

I know there's a shop I can take consoles and stuff too and they'll fix basically everything. Try looking around maybe there a gaming repair shop.

If its old, its probably not this, but when I got my old one (Christmas 2014) I had to send it to Nintendo in February. It would scratch my gamecards, and made ACNL unplayable. It turns out that it was a faulty cartridge.

I still can't play that ACNL copy to this day.
