I tried to google this and couldn’t figure it out but I figured you guys would know.

So ok, you play the stupid card game with your camper, he agrees to move in.

But your town is full, he picks a random villager, and you say no.

My question is, have you now doomed yourself to this camper never asking to move in? No card games at all?

Thx for any info.

My understanding (admittedly I've never done this, I have crappy luck with random campers) is that they don't ask to move in again. I'm not 100%, but that was the impression I got.

But, for future reference, I believe you can reset right after they ask about a certain villager (don't select an answer- just turn the game off as soon as they ask for someone you don't want to leave), start the game back up, and get them to ask again- and there's a chance they'll ask about someone else moving instead. You can keep doing this until they pick the villager you want.

They will ask to move in again. Though I usually leave the tent and come back. I know this because I believe when I first got Rocco, he asked for Diva and I said no. I came back and he asked for Diva and I went ahead and took him up on the offer. I'm almost certain they will ask again.

As stated above you can reset when they ask about moving someone out to reroll for them to ask about someone different.

if the game autosaves after you say no, they are locked. you might be able to get them to kick the same villager, but I'm not sure yet.

you can reset this by saving without quitting after they say a villager you don't want to leave - don't finish the dialogue.

I'd recommend saving every few dialogue lines but I haven't done non-amiibo campsite moveins in awhile (I used to keep my house next to the campsite so it was easier to save every few lines)

Yes do this if you don't want the villager they suggest to leave. I had Wolfgang come to my campsite the other week and he was one I definitely wanted. He asked for Renee to leave but I closed it. It took ages for him to initiate the card game again (no matter how many times I went in and out of the tent) and eventually he asked for Megan on that occasion. I didn't want Megan to go as such but agreed only because I couldn't be bothered spending all day turning it off, winning a game of chance etc.

i've actually never tried to say no but i heard from others that once you say no the game will autosave and the camper won't ask to move in again. what i always do just to be safe is: i play the game with the camper until they decide to move in, if they pick someone i don't want to move out i'll just exist the game before the dialogue ends (literally right after some villager's name that lives my island pops up) and then repeat until they ask to kick out the villager i don't want on my island anymore. i hope that helps!

Its a highly annoying mechanic. I wanted to move in a campsite visitor but wasn't aware you needed to reset after the camper suggests the villager to switch places with. So I kept playing and he kept suggesting the same villager. I wish you could just pick one yourself, this seems needlessly tedious.

See, I've only ever moved in Amiibo villagers, and I assumed it was the same- with Amiibo villagers you can select who moves out. I guess maybe it's a way to encourage people to buy more Amiibos, but since not every villager has an Amiibo, that seems rather unfair.

I always close the game without saving unless they mention a villager I want to get rid of. Most of the time I can get my target villager out however Vivian refused to name Chief the other day so I gave up.

I tried the close as soon as the name came up but couldn't get her to stay after that. Got lucky though, my secondary character got her to stay and with the right move out on the first try

If you say no, they will eventually ask again if you keep talking to them. The problem is, they will only ever ask for the same villager to replace/kick out.
