Recently, there have been rumors circulating about a game that was in development by Capcom that would have been a First Person Shooter Mega Man X. The core concepts would stay the same (i.e. gaining weapons from bosses, charged shots, etc.), yet it would take a more Metroid Prime approach to the series. Polygon recently published an article about it. It went into the different stages of production and even had a playable demo of sorts that would showcase the concepts and ideas behind it. However, as with all of the other Mega Man projects, this one was canned. Say what you will about First Person Shooters, but this one actually looked like it would have been cool. It was a Platformer/FPS and, at least to me, that sounds interesting. I feel like Capcom just stopped caring about their most important IP. Their latest release being a game not even made by them.

Here's the full article with the videos and such:

I seriously don't know what they are thinking. Its like if Nintendo decided to stop making Super Mario games for awhile, that would prolly be a good thing IMO though XD. But i mean capcom has canceled many Maga Man games... Its such a waste, and they just continue pumping out RE.

It looked so cool! It had the platforming and it had the FPS elements. Retro could have made that one of the most memorable Mega Man games ever. Of course, that title, for me, makes me think of the Zero series, which was masterfully created.
