diving at least an hour a day to try to get a scallop is a waste of my time. sucks because i want to get a certain mermaid diy.

i’ve thought about it, but with other diys, yes you also wait too but you can do it while going on about your day (seasonal diy’s for example from balloons) but for this diy you have to be in the water going round & round.

i’m sorry, i know some of you are ok with it, or got time, or has good rng... but personally, to try dedicate an hour a day to dive and wait until pascal shows up, only to keep ending up getting a single pearl rather than a DIY is NOT cool nintendo. some of us have work.

I personally found the balloon DIYs a lot more time-consuming. Finding a scallop typically takes me 5-10 minutes.

I do think he shouldn't start giving out pearls till you get the other stuff, since you can hunt for them the rest of the time

i hope it gets easier to trade for it soon, as of right now, people barely get diy’s too. much less a repeat.

it’s just frustrating because after a stressful work day and wanting to claw my eyes out, i want to have a relaxing game. and diving is (or was) relaxing to me. but now doing it for an hour to keep getting pearls is getting on my nerves

You could try that. I don't really have much advice as I don't have trouble finding scallops. I think the spawn has been quite reasonable for me.

I usually look for scallops at night so I have a chance of running into creatures that sell well, like the Vampire Squid. At least then I can earn a good bit of Bells while I’m looking

night is the best time, I still have yet to to encounter the squid yet though. which really sucks cause i need 2, one for the museum and one for my pet

in other news... at least i finally got my first vampire squid today! so it was not all lost when i got a pearl again.

i think the reason i never found balloon DIYs time consuming was because i never really waited for it. i just shoot them when i happen to see one while doing other things on my island.

not counting the time during cherry blossom season, because that was short so i was pressured to farm lol. but at least for me it was during the lockdown time & the game was new so i had plenty of time for that.

Because my Mom and I both play this game we've come to the conclusion that he shouldn't give pearls at all because we can already dive for them if only Nintendo would retool the respawn rate and he should also pop up each time you retrieve a scallop instead of once a day because like you have said you are only able to play in a time sensitive manner

also i forgot to mention, it could take me an hour because i have 2 residents. now i don’t dive for the 2nd villager everyday, only when i don’t get a diy. but when i do i still get a pearl or crap (clothing). what gives. give me y’alls RNG luck!!!

I understand how you feel. It hasn't taken me that long to find a scallop but I'm not getting the diys either. i haven't played yet today but day 1 he gave me the mermaid chair diy and every day since he's given me a pearl. Just so you know I read that there is a glitch where if you make one of the mermaid diys he'll stop giving you them cause for some reason doing that makes the game think you have them all. Idk if it's happening to everyone, hasn't to me but I haven't made the one diy i have. So if you have made any already this glitch may be why you aren't getting any more. Dk why I'm not but hopefully that will change soon. For both of us.
