Can't get QR codes from Dream Towns?

A friend of mine isn't able to capture QR codes as his DS camera isn't working. I made a Dream Address so he would be able to get the paths from my town when he talks to Wendell. But when he talks to him, none of the paths show up. Only 5 of the default designs are there. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong because this is my first time having a Dream Address. So if anyone has any solutions please let me know!

Did you make the designs they want to get or did you scan a qr code?

Luna will tell you when you update that people can only get the design if it originated in your town.

You won't be able to share any designs that are not your original. It's possible you can use this pattern creator to create your own designs as it provides you with a grid and colours required. I used it before I was able to capture qr codes but I didn't really have the patience. Also, you can use that site to change where the design originated from, so you could share it via dream address but it's a little bit of a process.

Also, if it's a friend you know personally and he has a physical copy, you could simply put his game card in your ds to use your camera for qr codes? If not, then i don't know what else you can do for him.
