Can't get public work projects ( ･᷄ ︵･᷅ ) Am I doing something wrong?

Hey, everybody!

Sorry if this is stated a lot on the forums, but my villagers never seem to ask me about public work projects.

I've attempted to make it happen with a variety of methods. (inventory full of flowers, no bells, swimming out to sea for 5-6 minutes, digging holes by the villagers, checking up on them, time-traveling, etc) After about a week of obsessively doing it, a villager suggested one. So!

Are PWPs a seasonal thing?
Does the town rating/satisfaction have anything to do with it?
Does the friendship between the player and the villager affect it?

Am I doing anything wrong? Do you have any tips you could give me that made it easier for you? I'm growing impatient of dedicating my entire Sundays just to find out that my effort does nothing for my town. (?́ ‸ ?̀ )

Hmm do you let your player get stung by jellyfish when you go out to sea? That, apparently, resets your ping count (or something to that effect). I do that when I go PWP hunting. Inventory is nothing but flowers, no money, and then I let myself get stung for a few minutes (I just leave my 3DS to do something else). To be honest, I have only done that once, but when I did, I got two PWP requests. Of course, they can also ping for nicknames, changes in speech, and various other trivial things; but, this way, a PWP suggestion is much more likely to appear. I guess that doesn't mean it will, though! I don't think friendship level or anything else has much to do with it. I think it's purely random? This is mostly conjecture based on scraps of info I have salvaged on this forum from the past few days of being active, though! Hopefully it is helpful? ?

It takes time to get public works projects requested. Just walking around your town and doing daily chores does the trick. Villagers will ping you every 15 minutes. Every ping has a chance to be them requesting a public works project.

As said above it definitely takes time. I haven't had many requested at all, it can be frustrating.

I do the diving trick you explained above and for weeks my villagers were not requesting anything! Turns out, I needed to become closer friends with them. Once I did, they started requesting PWPs. So I'm not sure 100% that what I'm saying is legit but in my experience it seems to be.

You have attended the opening of your last P.W.P haven't you? I decided not to go to one and never got any more requests until I realised.

That's strange - for me the diving trick works just fine. Sometimes it only took 10 minutes and on other days up to two hours but it works! I get everyday a pwp request. I fill my pocket with money and dig holes around my villagers - after that I water flowers or do landscaping (away from the villagers) and once in a while a run arround and someone pings most of the time and maybe they sugesst a pwp ^^

I got about 10 pwp requests (in a week) from just simply landscaping my town and cutting trees away from other villagers

Even having my own hybrid farm on the beach and watering it every day gives me pwps

When I started my second town, I used the diving trick again (its the only one I find consistent). It takes a bit longer than 10 minutes this time, between half an hour to an hour for one to ping for a PWP. I think its because its a new game and I'm not that friendly with all the villagers yet. But I always get one a day from them, which is what I want.
